Playing at Christ Church in Gipsy Hill was always going to be a great gig, as is every gig I've done with "Freedom Of Expression" but I was also pleasantly surprised!

I'd expected that the gig would be held in the church's activity centre, or some adjoining building but it was in the actual church! Inside was decked out with candle lit tables and an awe inspiring golden cross behind the stage area. Needless to say, we performers were rapidly going over our lyrics to ensure appropriateness! MJ Hibbett played a great set and cleverly asked Tim Eveleigh to join him to throw in all the swear words for him (guilt free performing - and a giggle for us audience - brilliant plan!) It worked a treat, and secretly made me feel proudly rebellious! I half felt like throwing in a profanity into one of my songs! (Didn't happen though... Note to self - write song with swearing for such occasions!)

Being up on stage was an unusual experience, as the dome above my head created an effect like being surrounded by myself! A little strange feeling but different at least! A great night all in all, augmented by endless tea and coffee! Who could ask for more?

That sounds good; sounds like you made some new friends.
I've performed in a couple large halls, but never a church.
.
Another place for you to perform, which I recommend, is solo at a Farmer's Market.
No acoustics - but you'll go home with a ton of new friends, and a ton of fresh vegetables and things . . .
I look at it this way; I'm going to be practicing, anyway.
I might as well let others hear me - and get some of my food shopping done, too - all at once.
:)
.
It's memories of places like that, which a well-spent life is made of.
:)
Best wishes. from CT, USA.

Hey Alan,

It was great, some new friends, some familiar faces :)
I've done an arts market before. I should look into Farmer's Market - I like the whole two birds one stone idea!
Memories are the spice of song, life, and jokes! Love it!

Best wishes to you too Alan from London (UK)!
