Hello, fans and fiends ... I'm writing to share some news re. this Friday's show at the Warehouse, and also to share some fun stuff I've been listening to and otherwise enjoying. FuhGADsakes aren't you glad summer's almost over!
1. PASS IT ON!!!
I'll be part of the songwriters-doing-their-thing lineup this Friday, starting 7:30pm, at the Warehouse. Cover is $5, pretty good deal to watch 7-8 locals deal their hands ..... come early for my set, come late to avoid it!

2. SHARLA JUNE
What can I say? I've been a fan ever since I first heard her sing years ago. I wondered whatever happened to her, and then she showed up in my front yard last year during my birthday party, and I was a born-again Sharla-toon! The Mayhaws (including new-to-Mayhaws drummer Scott McArthur) rocked us out at the American Legion last Saturday, in between sets of my beloved Cow Lick's moograss footstomp. It was an honor to share the stage with these fine folks!
Check out Sharla's myspace.com/sharlajune ... excerpt from the site: "Sharla June has her roots in folk and country music, her heart in punk and garage rock, and she shakes and bakes it with a wild-ass honky-tonk sensibility. She does rockabilly Stooges, samba Patsy Cline, and a wealth of originals that saunter, swing, or make folks weep into their shot glasses. "
3. TODD SNIDER
I first heard this guy on V89 about 5 years ago. I forget what song it was but I remember that incredible, surging feeling of Dr Pepper spurting through my sinuses while I was trying not to wreck on North Monroe. This summer I rediscovered his music on my favorite satellite radio station, Boot Liquor - I favor it because it favors songs about drinking, laughing while losing, and poking fun at cultural icons/sacred cows/nannybooboo. The song I heard first was "Iron Mike's Main Man's Last Request," from Snider's East Nashville Skyline album, and that was enough for me to track him down and start listening to everything he had on Napster. After a half-dozen more songs, I realized that "Iron Mike's..." was by far the least interesting cut I'd heard so far (and THAT being a lampoon I would recommend to anyone who followed Mike Tyson's career and gave a flying f***). Check out such gems as "The Ballad of the Kingsmen" and "Conservative Christian Right-Wing Republican Straight White American Males" from the East Nashville Skyline album. Todd is my hero. http://www.toddsnider.net/
4. JESUS' GENERAL

Not for the faint of heart or anyone who is humor-impaired.
