About 4 years ago, I came across this song at a publishing company named Crutchfield Music. I played it for several 'friends in the industry' and no one seemed to be very interested in the song. They all told me that it was an average song and simply not that impressive. However, I felt like it told the story of my Grandparents who had been married for 62 years. Theirs was a TRUE love story. My Grandpa was a quiet, traditional and very giving man who honored his wife deeply...and Grandma was always so proud of him and showed her passion and devotion every day.
I was in the middle of recording "She Remembers Love" this past year, when my Grandpa was diagnosed with cancer. Our family only had another month with him to digest the news before he passed away peacefully and at home, surrounded by his adoring wife, family, and the wonderful people from Hospice. I was stuck in an airport trying to get home and missed his passing by about 3 hours.
Grandpa never got to hear this song but Grandma is alive and well and enjoys this tribute to their love. Although the song implies that the woman has Alzheimers, my Grandma does not. I did not write this song but I'd like to dedicate it to my Grandparents, nonetheless....the dedication also extends to all of you out there who have found your best friend and partner. Hope you enjoy my rendition of "She Remembers Love."
