Soul Skin and Iron shoes (new demos)

Soo I've uploaded a couple more, the recordings are super crackly/distorted and I recorded them excitedly the first time I sang all day so my voice is not as warmed up as it could be, but I will def rerecord them better soon.

Soulskin, is vaguely to do with having read 'women who run with the wolves' and imagining having an animal skin and carrying my own organs, being really a spirit having sheddable body parts and flying- I thought of Icarus aswell.

The other one is about the story of the Iron Shoes. There are two versions of the fairytale, there is a really old version which was v messed up where a Hedgehog man saves a King lost in the forest and the King promises several of his daughters to him in return, the first doesn't want to marry him, the second does. He wants the first one, on their wedding night he sticks his horrible prickles into her as punishment for having been 'disobedient' or 'disrespectful'. The later version is the one I like, but the darkness of the first still felt quite present anyway, which is as follows:

A King in a faraway land wanders away from his palace grounds and gets lost in some woods and night falls. He keeps wandering trying to get back, afraid in the darkness and comes across an old house. He knocks on the door and is let in by a man half human half beast- a Hedgehog man. The King asks to come in to shelter for the night and help to get back to his kingdom. The Hedgehog man asks in return for his help the first thing that greets him on his return. The King consents thinking it will be his dog. When he arrives home, the first thing to greet him instead is his daughter. So he has to keep the promise and the daughter agrees.

On their wedding night when Hedgehog man thinks the princess is asleep, he sheds his coat of prickles to reveal a very handsome body. Then he disappears. The princess sees everything and is enamoured of the quills he leaves behind all soft underneath lying by the fireplace. All warm by the fire, she lays down and falls sleep on them. On his return, he finds her and says if she can keep the secret that he sheds his quills for 3 days, true love will break the spell- which she promises to do.

The next morning at breakfast she is happy. The queen gets suspicious, why would she be happy she just married a beastly Hedgehog man?? The queen anticipates he sheds his quills and tells the princess to throw them in the fire! The princess proclaims "noo that's not the way!!"...and she has broken her promise. The next night, the same thing happens, he sheds his quills, but alas something grips her, she's broken the promise anyway and she throws his quills into the fire!! She can hear her Hedgehog man screaming and runs out to find him, but he has gone.

She decides to walk the earth to find him and so she walks and walks and walks so far she wears out three pairs of iron shoes. Finally she does find him and she holds him tight and won't let go and holds so tight tadaaa true love breaks the spell...and they live happily ever after....

The track labelled Soulskin seems to actually be a 27s snip of an Iron Shoes take. Fix that, please, as I am eager to hear it *grin* ;) Iron Shoes, btw, I like a lot. The bells feel right with it. Kind Men blows me away.
