So, what's the new, "trendy" boutique amplifier of today? Well, I guess it would be the Dr.Z's or Bad Cat's. Oh, they are great sounding amps and EVERY "road picker"(in Nashville, at least) has one. But,.....I HATE trends! I refuse to buy an amp or guitar (like PRS's) based on which hot "Player of the month" currently endorses it.(Matchless amps were everywhere. Now you don't see any!)
I believe in "tone". But, I also believe in consistancy, reliability and R&D. (research&development) That's why Mesa Engineering has been my amp company for almost 20 years. Not only do they provide "THE" killer tone, but they actually seem to care more about the fact that all of their customers amps perform like new (no matter how old!) rather than " How much can I charge this guy for a repair?".
As an Electronic tech, I can tell you that these amps are built like no other. Mesa doesn't rest on their laurels. They continue to earn my loyalty every time I buy a piece of their gear or talk to one of their techs.
So, before you go out and spend 3 grand on the new, hot amp, you need to ask yourself if that company will be around in another 20 or 30 years to stand behind your now vintage amp. I know Mesa will and has!..............Rod
