They've been in existence since 2002, though it seems that Jay Haze'sContexterrior label have been somewhat off the radar as of recent times. The same in fact, could be said of Jay himself.
Over the past few years, it seems as though his other projects, be it producing under alias Fuckpony, or concentrating on his other label Tuning Spork have taken centre stage for the man also known as Justin McNulty. Labels which Jay has released for read like a who's who of prominent techno labels; Cocoon, Bpitch Control, Playhouse and Soma to name a few.
So it's only natural then that he'd again lend his expertise to rejuvenating Contexterrior . And boy, have they come back with a bang. Not since the days of Haze's collaborative work with a certain Ricardo Villalobos has their been such hype over a label, due in no small part to the recent success of Bloody Mary's 'Black Pearl' Album.   
Situated unsurprisingly in Berlin, they've also released tracks by techno luminaries such as Jeff Samuel and Robag Wruhme, so it's a welcome return to form for Pennsylvanian ex-pat Jay Haze. With his own stock only rising through the success of his recent Fabric mix, as well as his well documented political beliefs, it's fair to say we'll be again hearing from Contexterrior in the near future.
Whether it's a peak-time workout track heard for the club, or a subtle minimal composition heard on headphones, Contexterrior's output is as eclectic as their label owners.
