...it never ceases to amuse me, when my fellow MySpacers state on their Profiles that they "love music, it is the centre of their lives and couldn't live without it" that a Friend Request receives the reply that such and such "doesn't accept band requests."

Found all the music you're gonna like, have you? lol

Janine

Two thirds of my friends are bands. I love the fact some of the bands take the time to talk or comment you personally and get to know their friends (including you guys yourself of course). I just find it hard keeping up listening to all the bands who send me requests. Keep up the good work. As for the rest of my friends, I only keep the ones who take the time to chat back and I can honestly say I have made some good friends so far.

Fully appreciate what you're saying there and I would never change my settings to not accepting band requests even though I get inundated with them and have been known to receive up to 11 per day. I accept very few otherwise I'd have a ridiculously large friends list, would never be able to keep up with bulletins and wouldn't really be able to show them support in any way. Whittled it down a while ago and to stay or be added onto my list (and therefore properly supported) a band or artist needs to fall into one of several of my own personal criteria. I don't even listen to them if they don't cos I simply don't have the time. Even then they can fall foul of my own personal idea of reasonable behaviour and etiquette. Kind of a 3 strikes and you're out. Most recently I got really annoyed when a local rock band childishly spammed the bulletin board by advertising their gig every 5 minutes for at least an hour. It was the last straw as I rely on that board to keep me updated and for communication. If I ever worked out how much it costs in both time and money to support those I do I'd probably blanche ha ha.

Having said that there's nothing wrong in people adding thousands of bands if they so wish and for bands to add as many people as they are able to have just sitting on their lists quite happily. Each to their own. There's no right way this is just my way. And my rant too maybe ha ha.

I love discovering new music. For me, that's what Myspace is all about. If people don't accept band requests its their loss.
So there! lol

I PERSONALLY LOOK FORWARD TO GETTING BAND REQUESTS! OF THE 740 FRIENDS I HAVE ON MY PAGE, 90% ARE BANDS AND 95% OF THOSE ARE BANDS THAT I "DISCOVERED" THRU A BAND REQUEST!!

I'M REALLY QUITE THANKFUL FOR MYSPACE AND THE SERVICE THEY OFFER IN REGARD TO MUSIC. FROM THE COMFORT OF MY OWN HOME, I CAN SIT AND LISTEN TO HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF NEW ARTISTS, NEW SONGS, AND NEW GENRES OF MUSIC THAT I MIGHT OTHERWISE HAVE OVER LOOKED OR DIDN'T CONSIDER BECAUSE IT WASN'T WHAT I USUALLY LISTEN TO. I CAN LISTEN TO COMPLETE SONGS (NOT JUST SNIPPETS OFFERED AT OTHER MUSIC SITES), READ BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTIST, VIEW PHOTOS, AND FIND TOUR DATES FOR UPCOMING SHOWS.
I CAN EVER CONTACT THE ARTISTS I ENJOY AND COMMUNICATE WITH THEM!

MANY OF THE ARTISTS I ENJOY, RESPECT, AND APPRECIATE ARE FROM THE U.K.
THE INTERNET IN GENERAL AND MYSPACE IN PARTICULAR HAS MADE IT AS EASY FOR ME TO LEARN ABOUT NEW ARTISTS IN LIVERPOOL, LONDON, NEWCASTLE, ESSEX, MANCHESTER, KENT AND LEEDS AS IT IS TO LEARN ABOUT NEW ARTISTS RIGHT HERE IN MEMPHIS!!

I LOVE TO DISCOVER NEW ARTISTS AND MUSIC AND LOOK FORWARD TO BAND REQUESTS. BECAUSE OF BAND REQUESTS I LISTEN TO MUSIC FROM FRANCE, SPAIN, SOUTH AMERICA, ITALY, GREECE, SWITZERLAND, JAPAN, CHINA, GERMANY, AND BUGARIA. AND WHILE I ONLY SPEAK ENGLISH, I'VE NEVER FOUND A LANGUAGE BARRIER THAT PREVENTS ME FROM ENJOYING MUSIC FROM OTHER COUNTRIES.

NOT ALL BAND REQUESTS MAY OFFER THE TYPE OR GENRE OF MUSIC YOU USUALLY LISTEN TO, BUT I THINK IT'S GREAT TO HAVE THAT EXPOSURE TO DIFFERENT ARTISTS AND SONGS.

I FOUND THE HONEST JOHNS THRU A BAND REQUEST AND I'M MOST THANKFUL FOR THAT! I'M EMBARRASSED TO SAY THEY ARE "NEW" ARTISTS TO ME, BUT HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR A BAND REQUEST, I MIGHT STILL BE MISSING THEIR TREMENDOUS TALENTS!! NOW I'M A "DYED-IN-THE-WOOL", 20 YEAR FAN OVERNIGHT!! AS A MATTER OF FACT...I DID JUST DISCOVER THEM YESTERDAY!! AND NOW I'M ON A FIRST NAME BASIS WITH PAUL! AND BOB'S YOUR UNCLE!!!

CHEERS LADS FOR BEING THE TALENTED GROUP YOU ARE AND THANK YOU AGAIN FOR INVITING ME TO HEAR AND LEARN ABOUT YOUR MUSIC.
I LOOK FORWARD TO OWNING THE NEW CD VERY SOON!

RESPECTFULLY,

RODNEY KNOLTON

Completely agree - I've been to a few gigs because I accept bands as friends on MySpace and bought a few CDs (Songwriters of the North included!). The day I've heard all the music Im going to like is will be the day I die.
Music keeps everybody alive, keep me breathing!
