So, it's a sad farewell to Carl, our friend and drummer who has been playing with us for the last year or so. He's off to the US for an inditerminate amount of time to make his fortune as an ice hockey player (I did suggest that Canada was probably more appropriate, but there you go) and will be missed. (Good luck mate x.) Which means we have a new drummer called Mark. He's from Berlin, very handsome in a Teutonic knight kind of way, and a fantastic drummer. Jean-ga recently played with him in a free-jazz improv group and said after the experience, "My initially impenetrable, sclerotic bass-playing gradually fell under the spell of Mark's persuasive and gently hypnotic circling of the kit, and I followed accordingly. He showed me a new side to myself that night, for which I am eternally grateful." I guess you had to be there.
