We got word last night that Zane "in new music we trust" Lowe played our new single on his "Fresh Meat" show on Radio 1 last night. Listeners of the show actually voted it the best track. Unfortunately we missed the show, because we were sound checking for our gig in Edinburgh at the time…Arse !
I can't really put into words how we all felt when we heard the news. It was just so surreal. Sitting in the back of the tour bus contemplating the fact that our record had just been played to millions of people by one of the best and most influential DJ's in the business. I don't think it really sank in for any of use until we got up on stage to do the gig – we just nailed it, and played possibly the best gig of our lives.
A massive thanks to Zane Lowe and to all the listeners who voted for Boss man. We really appreciate it. If you missed the show you can listen to it again by visiting Zane Lowe's site at Radio 1 by clicking here. The single was played just after 8.30pm.
We're now just into our second week on the road, and are absolutely loving it. This is what it's all about for us, getting out there and putting on a show every night. It's what we were born to do. Whether it's to 5 or 500 people doesn't matter to us.
There have however been a few hitches along the way! All the electrics went on the tour buss after only two days on the road, so we had to make a detour to change the bus for a new one. Unfortunately our tour manager decided to leave his wallet on the old bus. Our tour manager has also been violently ill for the last day or so, following the consumption of a dodgy chess burger in the Leeds vicinity. Our bass player Paul looks like he's going down with an eye infection. We also seem to be suffering from a severe shortage of clean socks, which perhaps explains why the tour bus smells like someone has recently died in it.
But otherwise everything has gone very smoothly! The gigs so far have been amazing. Great crowds and some really good feedback from the people who have come along to see us.
We'd like to say a big thanks to everyone who has come along to our gigs so far on the tour. And if we are gonna be stopping off in your city please come along and see us if you can. We'd love to see ya.
Also we'd like to say thanks to everyone who has worked so hard on getting the single out and putting the tour together - you know who you are. Extra special thanks to our manager, Mr Ally "Orkney" Milsted and, the greatest living roadie on earth Mr Eric "Lavender" Young. Cheers boys!
Anyway, that's all for now….were currently on route to Hull for a gig at the Jaz Bar tonight. Rockin.
Later - Danny x
