Magic Slim walked away a winner at the 2008 Illinois Blues Blast Music Awards, held November 2nd at Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago.  Magic Slim & The Teardrops were awarded "Best Blues Band".  Votes were cast by readers of the Illinois Blues Blast e-newsletter, read by nearly 11,000 blues fans weekly.

Great to see and very much deserving !!! .. He and his band are wonderful !!! I had a chance to see him in Youngstown, Ohio a couple of times. Man what a show. GOD BLESS

Slim I am the bass player !!! Steady Eddie !!! I almost had a chance to sit in with you here in youngstown but it did not work out. .. I just wanted to say that I would love to see you record Bad Avenue man it just sends tingles down my spine whenever I hear you do it.Since I've heard it I listened to Koko Taylors version of it and these are the only two that I know of.But the version you guys do is fantastic. .. .. By the way I am the man on the very right of the photo I hope that you remember me.I also gave you one of our CD's.
