Memorial Day

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is much more than a three-day weekend that marks the beginning of summer. To many people, especially the nation's thousands of combat veterans, this day, which has a history stretching back all the way to theCivil War, is an important reminder of those who died in the service of their country.

Uncover the interesting history of the holiday we now call Memorial Day. Discover little-known facts about America's Wars and stop by the Veterans Forum message boards to share your views with veterans, their loved ones and fellow history buffs.

As a veteran I truly appreciate this blog and spending most of my time in Philadelphia has made me sensative to history and all the wars this nation has fought, even back to before America was a nation. I truly appreciate this blog and I know that all who you know in the military will as well. just like children often take for granted what they get at Christmas time by the time summer comes, so do we as adults, often taking for granted the freedoms we have as a result of people who have died in wars for us as well as sacrificing their dreams, ambitions and hope. God bless you this Memorial Day

AMEN Mya,

Memorial Day is a day when we celebrate the lives of those who fought for OUR freedom and country. From all the way back in the Civil War to those fight over seas today. There are way to many people who have forgotten what the day means and stands for. God Bless them and their families.

Sup Mya, I was just listening to one of your songs as I logged on (all about me & moving randomly in my playlist), lol. I agree that memorial day is just more than a weekend extension or time off. It took a lot for the country to become what it is today and it was defended on the backs of those who are not with us today. There are still many of us serving for that very reason in other parts of the world here today. I have friends and family that I message over there as often as possible. Can't wait till we are done over there. Till then I pray they all come home safe and wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day!!!
