ONE MORE SECOND
by Gurf Morlix
(Crankbait music/SESAC/Administered by BUG Music)

It was all too perfect, like it was meant to be
the cosmic joke, wasn't lost on me
my mind was carryin', a heavy load
I bought the gun, out on Nolensville Road

Courage was buildin', as the drinks were poured
a chance like this, couldn't be ignored
didn't take no thinkin', I just know
I was gonna do, what I had to do

ONE MORE SECOND, WAS ALL IT WOULDA TOOK
ANOTHER THOUGHT, A CLOSER LOOK
BUT THUNDER CRACKED, AND BLOOD RAN COLD
ONE MORE SECOND, MIGHTA SAVED MY SOUL

In my pocket, it weighed a thousand pounds
I could hardly move, yeah it was weighin' me down
but when I finally saw you, sittin' across the hall
in less than a heartbeat, it weighed nothin' at all

holdin' cold steel, I measured my pain
my mind was spinnin', like a hurricane
was I losin' my nerve, was I startin' to freeze
somehow I found the trigger, and I gave it a squeeze

ONE MORE SECOND, WAS ALL IT WOULDA TOOK
ANOTHER THOUGHT, A CLOSER LOOK
BUT THUNDER CRACKED, AND BLOOD RAN COLD
ONE MORE SECOND, MIGHTA SAVED MY SOUL

I watched the bullet, leave the gun
carve its trail, what have I done
I saw it spinnin', windin' its way
saw myself headed, for reckoning day

I fell to me knees, I screamed your name
I begged forgiveness, but I begged in vain
in half a moment, everything had gone black
the edge of that instant, I want it back

ONE MORE SECOND, WAS ALL IT WOULDA TOOK
ANOTHER THOUGHT, A CLOSER LOOK
BUT THUNDER CRACKED, AND BLOOD RAN COLD
ONE MORE SECOND, MIGHTA SAVED MY SOUL
ONE MORE SECOND, MIGHTA SAVED MY SOUL

WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS
by Gurf Morlix
(Crankbait music/SESAC/Administered by BUG Music)

Goin against the grain, I'm walkin' all alone
into a hurricane, only way to get home
no gettin around it, I made up my mind
I'm movin' on faith, I'm travelin' blind

I'M WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS, WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS
I'M WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS, ON JUDGEMENT DAY

Put my head down, plow into the wind
it's a whole lotta miles, to the city of sin
I might not make it, I know that's true
but I don't know, nothin' else to do

I'M WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS, WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS
I'M WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS, AND IT'S JUDGEMENT DAY

Friends tried to tell me, that I was gonna die
cops tried to stop me, but I blew right on by
cuz the ones I love, are waitin' there for me
and without them, what would my life be

I'M WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS, WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS
I'M WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS, ON JUDGEMENT DAY

Now I can't think, I can only feel
time's stopped movin', this don't seem real
if I don't get there, I'll die tryin'
and I'll haunt this highway, til the end of time

I'M WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS, WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS
I'M WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS, AND IT'S JUDGEMENT DAY

I'M WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS, WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS
I'M WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS, ON JUDGEMENT DAY
ON JUDGEMENT DAY, JUDGEMENT DAY

CROSSROADS
by Gurf Morlix
(Crankbait music/SESAC/Administered by BUG Music)

I was rollin', I was flyin' high
cards were fallin', from out of the sky
I was way up, on top of the game
I could see like an eagle, hold my hand in the flame

I knew I had it, the moment was mine
it was all so clear, so frozen in time
I was about to lay it down, was about to let it fly
when from across the room, somebody caught my eye

YOU CAN FIND A CROSSROADS, MAKE YOU A DEAL
TAKE A CHANCE, SPIN THE WHEEL
STRIKE A BARGAIN, FOR WHAT YOU THINK YOU NEED
BUT YOU'RE GONNA GET CUT, AND YOU'RE GONNA BLEED

I got a little nervous, I hedged my bet
I started thinkin', 'bout things that hadn't happened yet
I saw the instant, I lost my edge
tryin' to balance, out on the ledge

YOU CAN FIND A CROSSROADS, MAKE YOU A DEAL
TAKE A CHANCE, SPIN THE WHEEL
STRIKE A BARGAIN, FOR WHAT YOU THINK YOU NEED
BUT YOU'RE GONNA GET CUT, AND YOU'RE GONNA BLEED

he slid on in, slipped me a name
it didn't mean nothin' but I knew just the same
he had what I wanted, made it sound right
said I knew where to meet him, just before midnight

YOU CAN FIND A CROSSROADS, MAKE YOU A DEAL
TAKE A CHANCE, SPIN THE WHEEL
STRIKE A BARGAIN, FOR WHAT YOU THINK YOU NEED
BUT YOU'RE GONNA GET CUT, AND YOU'RE GONNA BLEED

now I know some people, who sold their souls to the devil
and they don't sound nothin', like Robert Johnson

SHE'S A RIVER
by Gurf Morlix
(Crankbait music/SESAC/Administered by BUG Music)

Like a bird, on the wing, like a melody, you can't quite sing

Like a cloud, blowin' by, she's a whisper, she's a tear in my eye

Like a drop of dew, in the mornin' sun, like a rumor, she's on the run

Like a leaf, droppin' from a tree, she ain't fallin', she's flyin' free

SHE'S A RIVER, AND SHE'S ALREADY GONE

SHE'S A RIVER, HEADIN' FURTHER ON

WATER SEEKS ITS LEVEL, RUNNIN' TO THE SEA

SHE'S A RIVER, SHE'S FLOWIN' AWAY FROM ME

Like a dream, you can't recall, you're not sure, it was there at all

Seemed so clear, but now it's fadin' fast

You watch the future, become the past

SHE'S A RIVER, AND SHE'S ALREADY GONE

SHE'S A RIVER, HEADIN' FURTHER ON

WATER SEEKS ITS LEVEL, RUNNIN' TO SHE SEA

SHE'S A RIVER, SHE'S FLOWIN' AWAY FROM ME

Like a song, floatin' in the sky, you gotta try to grab it, as it passes by

If you don't catch it, it's lost in the wind

That one ain't comin', round again

SHE'S A RIVER, AND SHE'S ALREADY GONE

SHE'S A RIVER, HEADIN' FURTHER ON

WATER SEEKS ITS LEVEL, RUNNIN' TO SHE SEA

SHE'S A RIVER, SHE'S FLOWIN' AWAY FROM ME

SHE'S A RIVER, SHE'S FLOWIN' AWAY FROM ME

Drums from New Orleans
by Gurf Morlix and George Caver
(Crankbait music/SESAC/BUG and SHRUB Music/BMI)

lonely child, frozen north
where the great Niagara flows
winter nights would get so cold
had me sleeping in my clothes
but the starlight glow of the vacuum tubes
revealed a world unseen
at five below, on the radio
I heard the drums, from New Orleans

bakelite grill, plastic knobs
antenna was a piece of wire
but it pulled in sounds from out of the dark
that set my soul on fire
I never heard nothing like them saxophones
pianos and tambourines
on houndog’s show, on the radio
I heard the drums from New Orleans

50 thousand watts of power, floatin' out over through the air
headin' to my bedroom, an answer to my prayers
what came out of that six inch box
blew my brain, to smithereens
12 years old, on the radio,
I heard the drums, from New Orleans
the drums, from New Orleans

lonely man, an icy room
the night begins to crawl
I lay awake and wrestle,
with the voices coming through the wall
to keep from going, out of my mind
and save me from my dreams
I search the dial, all night long
for the drums from New Orleans
the drums from New Orleans

MUSIC YOU MIGHTA MADE
by Gurf Morlix
(Crankbait music/SESAC/Administered by BUG Music)

Ride a Bus, or use your thumb, no matter where you just come from

I'm thinkin' 'bout all them songs, that you played

Never lost the need to roam, never called a house a home

I'm thinkin' 'bout the music, you mighta made

Never had nothin', liked it that way, everything you'd get, you'd give it away

you'd come and stay, then say goodbye, never gave, your reasons why

You felt it all and you felt it deep, them songs would make me weep

I'm thinkin' 'bout the music, you mighta made

Open a shell, and find a pearl, friend of the workin' girl

I'm thinkin' 'bout what you got, for what you gave

You'd fall in love, all the way, it'd be a brand new day

I'm thinkin' 'bout the music, you mighta made

Eyes of green, eyes of blue, eyes of brown, didn't matter to you

hair of gold, hair of red, or not a hair left on her head

if you coulda only flew, might notta been so blue

I'm thinkin' 'bout the music, you mighta made

Song to song, and town to town, you were steady fallin' down

I'm thinkin' 'bout all those debts, that were never paid

doorbell ringin', 5AM blues, standin' on my porch, in muddy shoes

I'm thinkin' 'bout the music, you mighta made

find a place to lay your head, didn't have, to be a bed

find a spot, where you might sleep, a few hours, of dreamin' deep

you always managed, to do something wrong, you always stayed a day too long

I'm thinkin' 'bout the music, you mighta made

It hurt me hard, to see you down, no help, comin' around

I'm thinkin' bout your last words, and what they weighed

you had to do what you had to do, but you didn't have to have that done to you

I'm thinkin' 'bout the music, you mighta made

I know how hard you tried, I know your mind wasn't satisfied, you saw the wrong,

you saw the right, 'bout as same, as black and white

code of honor, hammered in hard, but you bled out in your friend's front yard

I'm thinkin' 'bout the music, you mighta made

I can almost hear the music, you mighta made

I GOT NOTHIN'
by Gurf Morlix and George Caver
(Crankbait music/SESAC/BUG and SHRUB Music/BMI)

She loved like an angel, lied like a thief
stole like a preacher, took my belief
all that we had, was all hers to use
put me out on the street, with no coat, and no shoes

I GOT NOTHIN', I GOT NOTHIN'
I GOT NOTHIN' LEFT, TO LOSE

Quick to come clear, I was playing a part
she fed me my lines, made me learn them by heart
I'd beg for the script, she'd always refuse
she lit the stage, bathed it, in blues

I GOT NOTHIN', I GOT NOTHIN'
I GOT NOTHIN' LEFT, TO LOSE

She booked the room, but she used my card
she brought in a crowd, and I swallowed hard
the scene, it was tragic, not played, to amuse
pulled up the curtain, then she wrote, the reviews

I GOT NOTHIN', I GOT NOTHIN'
I GOT NOTHIN' LEFT, TO LOSE

She said once, she loved me, I bought it, big time
but I was a fool, a victim of a crime
I could stand up, point my finger, yeah I, could accuse
but she cleaned up so well, and she left no clues

I GOT NOTHIN', I GOT NOTHIN'
I GOT NOTHIN' LEFT, TO LOSE
I GOT NOTHIN', I GOT NOTHIN'
I GOT NOTHIN' LEFT, TO LOSE

HARD ROAD
by Gurf Morlix
(Crankbait music/SESAC/Administered by BUG Music)

I set out on my own, look out here I come
whatever there might be, I was gonna get me some
pure gunpowder, I was ready to explode
the fuse was lit, I was out on the hard road

with the pedal pressed down hard, I jammed it in fifth gear
as long as I had fuel, I could drive on out of here
following my engine, wherever it might go
tearin' up the tar, screamin' down the hard road

I learned that what I wanted, lay beyond where I could see
sometimes it seems like findin' it, 's about as tough as it might be
pushin' so hard, my desperation showed
thinkin' 'bout all the time, I was burnin' on the hard road

I stopped in for water, I was runnin' a little hot
topped off the radiator, bought me a double shot
I asked how far, to where I might unload
before the laughin' stopped, I was back out on the hard road

I never thought about it, I never once looked back
I wasn't scared of nothin', out ahead of the thunder crack
but somethin' was chasin' me, and it wouldn't be slowed
comin' up fast behind me, high beams on the hard road

now you could buy a map, you could draw a line
calculate your mileage, estimate your time
but you come to a river, and the river's overflowed
spinnin' your wheels, doin' time on the hard road

now I'm lyin' in some bed, prayin' I might die
no one can hear me, hard as I try
don't know how I got here, suspect that I was towed
got no memory at all, of comin' in from the hard road

time has stalled, nothin's movin' at all
I know what's happening, I hear the voices in the hall
I almost made it, to the final episode
just had a couple more miles to go, down the hard road
I learned everything I know, on the hard road
someone have mercy on my soul, take me out to the hard road

END OF THE LINE
by Gurf Morlix
(Crankbait music/SESAC/Administered by BUG Music)

I saw you and me as gold, saw us together, growin' old
runnin' side by side, til every hair was gray
me and you, would crash on thru, whatever came our way

you told me, that we would last
you told me, the die was cast
I believed your words, to the bottom of my soul
but honey you lied, tore me up inside, left a big ol' hole

IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE, IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE
ARE WE ALL OUT OF TIME, IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE

you held our future, in your hands, silver dreams, platinum plans
but then you dropped it all, or did you just let go
an accident, or your intent, I gotta know

IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE, IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE
ARE WE ALL OUT OF TIME, IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE

we had everything we needed, we had it all, we'd succeeded
nothin' short of dyin', could ever pull us apart
but now I'm askin' you, for an answer to
the question that's breakin' my heart

IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE, IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE
ARE WE ALL OUT OF TIME, IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE
IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE, IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE
ARE WE ALL OUT OF TIME, IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE

VOICE OF MIDNIGHT
by Gurf Morlix
(Crankbait music/SESAC/Administered by BUG Music)

I will miss, all I have known, no regrets, for the seeds I've sewn

A life spent tryin' to find a rhyme, but now I'm fallin', thru the holes of time

Where you've gone, I can't see, but that is where, I long to be

Whatever it takes, to pull me through, I won't be complete, til I'm with you

WHEN THE VOICE, OF MIDNIGHT CALLS

WHEN THE LAST HOUR, FINALLY FALLS

WELL IT WON'T BE NO SUPRISE

I'LL BE SEARCHIN', FOR YOUR EYES

Things they happen, they just do, with out a reason, without a clue

you can wonder, til your time is through, but there ain't no good, that'll do for you

WHEN THE VOICE, OF MIDNIGHT CALLS

WHEN THE LAST HOUR, FINALLY FALLS

WELL IT WON'T BE NO SUPRISE

I'LL BE SEARCHIN', FOR YOUR EYES

The greatest love, the world has known, was ours to share, was ours alone

The greatest gift, so tenderly, was your heart, given to me

WHEN THE VOICE, OF MIDNIGHT CALLS

WHEN THE LAST HOUR, FINALLY FALLS

WELL IT WON'T BE NO SUPRISE

I'LL BE SEARCHIN', FOR YOUR EYES

I'LL BE SEARCHIN', FOR YOUR EYES
