"So, Dave, find anything on this guy?" I asked
"Yea. This guy has had an interesting life. He was born on November 22, 1959 in Birkenau, Poland. He lived in a house in the country near Birkenau with his mother and father. In 1963 the UNESCO bought the house from his family, and claimed it as part of the world heritage site. Turns out the bricks used to build the farm house were taken from the gas chambers in Auschwitz. His family moved to the states and settled in New Orleans. Two years later William's father was killed in Hurricane Betsy when he refused to evacuate. He moved with his mother to Austin, Texas. They moved into a neighborhood where William befriended his neighbor Billy Speed, a local police officer. William adopted him as somewhat of a paternal figure to fill the void left by the death of his dad. Then on August 1st, 1966, Billy was killed by Charles Whitman during the University of Austin shooting. William's mother was so disheartened by the incident that she lost her job at the local hair salon and moved in with her maternal grandmother in West Virginia in the summer of 67. His mother died on November 21st, 1971, a day before William's 12th birthday, of liver failure. Apparently she took up drinking and other drugs to deal with the tragedy in her life. Despite an investigation by social services to take William away from his increasingly senile and violent grandmother, she took full custody of him and raised him in her home. She was investigated 3 separate time for bruises found on William's neck and wrists in school, though she never lost custody of him, claiming he hurt himself playing in the woods. Despite that, William did fairly well in school, he actually..."
"Wait, do you have more about the allegations of abuse?" I said.
"Yea. There were visible bruises on his wrists and neck, noticed by a teacher. Upon further investigation, the school nurse discovered more bruises on his back and ankles, and also small cuts on the skin between his testes and penis. When he was a juvenile he, like his grandmother, claimed these were bruises from playing with other boys in the woods. However, in his senior year, he underwent mandatory therapy when he was discovered killing the mice in the science room with a lighter. In these sessions he confessed that his grandmother would tie him down when he acted up as a child. She would use hemp ropes and bind his wrists and ankles to a chair in an empty closet. When he wet the bed, which he confessed to doing into his late teens, his grandmother would tie him to the chair and drape the soiled portion of the sheets over his head. When he had nocturnal emissions, she would cut his genitalia to prevent him from 'sinning" in his sheets again. Of course, the school counselor reported this to the police. At 17, having no living family in the states, William was emancipated and started living in an apartment he rented with the money he made from a part time job at a hardware store. He was fired 2 years later when it was discovered that he had been stealing from the store. In 1978, a 19 year old Williams moved back to Texas, settling in Dallas. He worked at Rocky's Pawn Shop until April of 81', when he was discovered to be selling illegal items."
"Stolen goods?" I asked.
"Not quiet. You're gonna love this, he was selling illegal ammunition to customers under the counter. He sold, amongst other things, "Devastator" brand rounds, the kind with lead azide explosive charges in them. And, get this, he sold several .22LR "Devastator" rounds and a RG-14 revolver to John Hinkley, Jr. Hinkley went on to use that revolver and rounds in his assassination attempt on Reagan."
"Fuck...." I mumbled.
"Yea, seriously." Dave replied.
"What the fuck else has happened in this guy's life?" I asked.
"Well, he disappeared for a while, but not before stealing several firearms. He stole a couple pump action shotguns, a Glock 17, a Glock 23, a Ruger P89, and an AR-15 rifle."
"So are we assuming he still has all those weapons with him?" I inquired.
"Well," Dave began, "Check this shit out: The Glock 17 and Rugar P89 with serial numbers matching the ones Williams stole were found at the scene of the 1991 Luby's massacre in Killeen, Texas."
