Here I am driving back to my house in Bryant about 2-3am Friday morning the 24th after leaving Legends Sports Bar where I was hanging out with some friends watching the Spurs win the finals! YEAH Not to mention that I had fun getting my ass kicked at pool………I am getting better! The nite was all great and yes, I had some drinks earlier that night but was well prepared to drive home! (no mailboxes this night!!!) About 2 miles before I got to my house on Highway 5, I noticed something in middle of my lane. I tapped my brakes because I had a friend driving 15 car links behind me and I wanted to make sure it was known that something was ahead. I moved over into the left lane slowing down from 50 to about 40mph not able to tell what was ahead. I thought it might be a white sheet but appeared to be as big as a deer. Slowly passing the object looking to my right and clearly could to tell that it was a body. Cold chills went up my body as I slammed on the brakes stopping in the middle of the road. I reached over turning on my caution lights unfastening my seat belt jumping out my car and started running as fast as I could back up the highway to the body. I came up to what appeared to be a dead 13-14 year old girl. The adrenaline was pumping pretty fast and everything was happening so fast at this point…. I took her arms and shook her as she had no blood on her body but was very unlife like. She came to and was pretty freaked out asking…”where am I” I told her she was in the middle of the road in Bryant, AR and that I could have killed her….. she said she wasn’t from there and was from a smaller town in the area. At this point I thought she might have been on some major drugs, got rapped and thrown out on the road. Later to find she was 19, was at a friend’s house down the road and they got into a fight and was told to walk home later apparently passing out in the middle of the road? The scary part is that the stars had to be lined up perfectly for everything to happen as it did because just a couple minutes after this incident the next vehicle coming down the road was a big trash truck that was flying past our vehicles even with the caution lights on! Luckily a Bryant police officer came by coincidently very shortly after this happened and the same story above was told. The officer took her to jail where she was charged with public intoxication and released to her parents. I and my friend still to this day are freaked out about the situation and needless to say we both didn’t sleep to well that night as I or someone else could have killed this girl that night but instead we must have been her guardian angel! Moral of the story: watch out for people in the middle of the road…hahah…not funny!
