Some songs you remember the exact moment you started them and exactly the way you were feeling at the time and others you forget.  This one is very special to me.  I wrote it about 2 years ago when I went back home for a family gathering, moving out about a year prior to that.  I went into my old room and sat down on an old amp I had in there and picked up just about the worst sounding acoustic guitar you could imagine lol.  It was pitch black outside, but I just stared out the window playing the guitar and thinking. I wasnt thinking about writing lyrics or melodies.  I was thinking how I lost someone so close to me so fast.  I started doing a build up on the guitar and then the 1st half of the chorus to this song came out word for word the first time.  As you probably have I've moved through many different stages in life and this song is a reflection of where I was at that time, but not anymore :)   I hope you enjoy it listening to it as much as I did writing it.

thanks,

Garrett

I enjoyed the song very much. I also enjoyed hearing about how you wrote it. Life is about going through change and sometimes its what we need even though we don't know its what we need at the time. But we all grow from it and become the people we are from it. Keep growing and you will keep getting better and better!

Garrett,
It's very 'real' what you wrote about how this song came about. It reminded me of something really heartbreaking that my daughter went through 2 years ago. He boyfriend was killed in a car wreck 1 week before Christmas. When I came home she was crying. I asked what was wrong and she replied, "Johnny died in a car wreck, and I never got to tell him how much I loved him." He was her first love. She's almost 20 now, this November and she says that she still can't find someone that made her feel like he did. I believe he was her soul mate. Garrett, maybe you could write a song, about someone finding and losing their soul mate.
Thanks for this song.
