Current mood: accomplished Category: Music
Well folks, I did say I'd see you tomorrow didn't I?
And tomorrow it is - well, sort of. Actually, by the clock on this particular laptop, it's currently...oh lord....6:50 in the morning! Hmmm, me thinks this might be quick....
As you may have gathered, the mixing of my album started today and the first track we decided to tackle was "Supermarket Dream". As I recall, using what juice is left in my sleep deprived brain, we started the day with lunch (the army always marches on it's stomach) and then a period of playing music as we made the transition into work-mode....everything from The Portsmouth Symphonia to Donovan got an airing until the mood descended upon us and the tracks for the afore-mentioned song were loaded into the system.
I think both Frank McGing and I (Frank is the musical and engineering boy wonder who will be doing all the real work during this process while I march round the room waving my arms enthusiastically) knew we were onto something when we turned the faders up to zero and the track was basically there before any work had commenced.
So saying, we worked forwards at a leisurely pace, pausing only for some thai green chicken curry in the late evening (that's right - the army's marching capabilities had come into question....there were still stomachs that needed trampling)...after that it was on into the wee small hours. But allow me to say folks, the track is now sounding utterly BEAUTIFUL with special care being taken to shine a golden light onto all it's components and illuminate them into spellbinding glory......Jeez, even though I'm actually now feeling more knackered than Knackered Jack McKnackered, winner of last year Mr Knackered competition, I'm still buzzing with excitement.....!
Ok - that's enough - my hands are starting to close down and bed beckons....we shall continue tomorrow!
Now where is that bed? I'll be asleep the moment the springs hit the floor.....oh, sleep, sleep, morpheous...foresake me not.....
