I'm not going to get sentimental here...just wanted to say that playing in Passing Strange the last seven months was an experience that will never be repeated. I made many new friends including cast, fans, alike...Monday's shooting by Spike Lee was definitely a highlight as I never had the pleasure to witness a director of his stature "in his element" as they say, much less be IN a Spike Lee film (that is of course if my wooly fro doesn't get edited out!)....The cast of Passing Strange are some of the most talented singers, musicians I have ever worked with and I never knew 7 part harmonies could be spontaneously created as I learned in the wings before we went onstage every night. Stew and Heidi write great music and expect a few unresolved suspended 4th chords and maj 7's in the new songs from LBB and C.Gibbs as they're influence will definitely have an impact. Heidi is the best boss anyone could have( she hated the word Boss but I use it here affectionately) My fellow band mates Christian Cassan (drums) and Jon Spurney (keyboards /guitar) kept me on my toes in a newfound, or perhaps more aptly articulated, revisited role as a sideman and I learned alot from their vast acumen of music both executed onstage and their fastidious obsession for The Beatles, Soft Machine, and other gems that were bestowed upon me through the perpetual ipod shuffle in the dressing room between acts, before and after shows. In any case, there are some photos of Passing Strange on the world wide web and on this site so go browsing and if you missed it on Broadway (The show closed on Sunday) then look out for it soon somewhere in film format blessed by the hand of Spike Lee...
