Tonight I'll be bringing yet another lineup of "Matt Brown Friend Rock" to Ye Olde Dive O' Highness in Seattle's conveniently located Fremont neighborhood...

While it's true that I traditionally choose these bills based upon which local bands I have the most fun drinking with, the fact remains that I am fortunate enough to drink with some damned entertaining people. Every month, High Dive talent buyer Jason Grimes kindly allows me the opportunity to share them with you for one magical, magical Thursday night... for better or worse, we haven't put on a dull show yet.
This month's installment features the very first appearance of
High Divide, a hard rocking collaboration between Richie Parish (
At The Spine) and Stormi King (
Shorthand For Epic). Stormi has promised me a special cover song tonight, and I'm personally hoping for a twenty minute version of "Bonzo's Montreux"...
History For Sale are celebrating the release of their debut CD, and it's a beauty. It's chock full of that meat n' potatoes classic alt-rock goodness that I used to shake my hair to in the '90s... and I actually DID used to shake my hair to a band that their drummer was in (with
Toby Graves, no less) back in those fabled years.
The Endeavors and I go way back: before their debut performance at the High Dive in 2007, I was welcomed into their practice space to help them decide which songs to include on their initial demo recording. One of those four songs, "Forest", is now The Endeavors' first music video, and they'll be starting their set with its premiere tonight.
What What Now follow up their recent appearances with the Whore Moans and Neon Nights by opening this festive evening. They're also the group most likely to guzzle all the cans of PBR backstage before the show even starts, so I encourage both the audience and the other bands to arrive early...
You've been warned. It's gonna be a party, as usual, and I'm excited to be a part of it.
