......I did one of those things a few weeks ago, where I wrote a long story on here, and at the time of pressing post, lost it all... grrrr

well, I wrote about my last few weeks of Australia, but iIm now writing from the beautiful coastal town of Brighton, Uk.

I left australia a couple of weeks ago, arrived to england, with just enough time to wash my clothes and have a nights sleep before catching a ride down to Somerset for a truely incredible festival, Surise Celebration.

It was hard to leave all our colourful friends we'd made in Byron Bay, but as soon as we landed at the festival here, and started re-connecting with the beautiful people of England, it felt amazing, and so special to see everyone again, looking healthy in the sun!

so, with blue sky here today, it really feels like summer! I can hardly believe I'm here, transported so fast to a different hemisphere, a different season, a different time.. it really felt like the water inside me was spinning an opposite way to everyone else the first few days, just like the plughole test....

So, I'm here for the summer. living in Brighton. looking forward to organising, and taking part in some gigs and shows locally, and around the Country. Feel fully inspired and fresh with music again (after a little break and reminder of why i'm doing it), and after experiementing a bit in various studio's in Aus, i'm feeling fully ready to get some recording started here.

I came back with a cd I made over in Australia called 'SUDDENLY RAINING'. It's partly live, partly recorded in England, and partly Australia. I'm selling it at festivals and gigs, and will hopefully have a way to sell it on my website soon. It's very raw, and definately a work in progress, but it's where i'm at now, and it's good to have a cd for people to take away with them.

Now i'm by computers again, i'm going to concentrate on getting my new website up and running properly. A lovely fellow called Simon who has been trying to stay in touch with me and my music for a couple of years, decided to make a site for me as a way for people to stay in touch while my website was down, and while i make a new one.. you can find it at: www.sketchingtides.com

'sketching tides' was the name of my first ep that I am no longer allowed to sell because I made it with my x management company, who have also taken my website, mailing list, and 'complete faith ep'. So intense the lessons we have to learn sometimes, but they, in the end feel so valuable and vital..

anyway, thanks for reading this, and i hope you are enjoying which ever season and land you are in, and the music that's around you!

if you are in the area, or know some good shows, or venues etc i'm always interested in playing in beautiful places!

Hey Carrie

Glad to hear that you are feeling refreshed, your management company sound like a bunch of $%^&*() but the less said about that the better. Will try to get to one of your upcoming shows if I can, and really hope you can play somewhere where I can bring Joe along to.

Hope I can get the new music soon.

Anyway take care and see you soon.

Best wishes

George.xx

Hey dear Carrie

How can anyone forbid you to sell your own music?
Don't accept that bullshit, whatever wool they try to pull over your eyes, your music is yours. NO-ONE else owns it or the right to tell you what you can and can't do with it. I don't know what the law is on this, but the only law that really holds any weight is the law of nature.

I don't know much about Ani Difranco but apparently she owns all her music and produces it and promotes it herself. People offered her various deals and she turned them down because she knew they would get greedy and try to rip her off and she wanted total control and creative freedom so that she can do whatever she likes, and is popular for the right reasons and maintains her integrity.

An example for us all, I feel.
I see you posted this ages ago but I only just read it, and it still feels important to say it anyway.

Big love to you.

Will

Hi Carrie, I saw you play at Glastonbury just now and I have to tell you that lying on a rug in that beautiful place, with mud encrusted socks and looking out of the tent over towards the neon colured wish tree with your unbelievably touching music moving around me was my most blissful moment there this year. I wept right through your set. It was exhausting but a truely incredible experience. Thankyou. Laura x
