IC/DC:Displace Me Goes to Congress

It's been three months since Displace Me and we've been working hard to see peace in Uganda. Though you might have forgotten those twenty-one minutes of silence or your cold cardboard box, millions are still displaced and the peace talks aren't resolved.

But things are looking good. In June we took those 78,000 letters to your Senators and watched as their eyes lit up once they realized that America cares about the children of northern Uganda. Now it's a matter of getting the U.S. actively involved in the peace process, and we're asking you to take it to the next level.

We know you've become rather close with your Congressmen (especially after you sent them that lovely photo of you with the big red X), but you're going to meet face-to-face.

Invisible Children is going to set you up on a date.

IC/DC's gone rogue and we're calling the shots: we've asked your Congressmen to meet you where YOU are (because who has time to go to DC?!) so they can hear what you have to say about Uganda. Okay…so maybe they come home every August on Congressional Recess…but that doesn't mean that you aren't their favorite pen pal.

During August 13 and 17, make your summer worthwhile. Grab your Displace Me crew, join Invisible Children and Resolve, and bring peace to northern Uganda.

The idea is simple:
taking our message of peace and multiplying it across 50 states; shifting power from DC offices to local communities.

The August congressional recess isn't summer vacation for our politicians – it's their chance to hear what's on the minds of their constituents and it's our chance to make sure their priorities reflect our concerns. And our message is clear:

   1. Failure is not an option for the Juba peace talks
   2. Children should not be soldiers

Let's make sure every one of our members of Congress gets these messages loud and clear.
