So I’ll
begin by wrapping up some of the stuff from the last post. We got hold of a new
band bus pretty quickly. We now drive a Volkswagen Sharan. It’s a tad smaller
than the old Previa, so we’ve had to get pretty good at packing stuff, but it
does the job. It also has an annoying habit of falling apart. It began with the
inside panel of one of the passenger doors, which is now held on with gaffer
tape, and since then we have made several discoveries of rattles, wobbles and
general misfittings. This peaked on our last day in London when the rear view
mirror fell off, so we had to battle our way through the London, Friday afternoon
rush hour, whilst running late for a radio interview, without that most useful
of car mirrors. Kudos to Tom for a fantastic performance!
Our
week in London was probably one of the best weeks we’ve had as a band. It marked
out second session in the Animal Farm recording studio, and now we have a 5
track E.P that we can work with. The word ‘spotify’ was mentioned so great excitement
there! On the first day one
of our producers revealed that his wife thought that ‘you guys just goof around
and fart all day in that studio’. She was quite right. We spent a lot of time breaking sofas, playing
online games and on fantastic conversation. Want to know
the nuances of the oxford university conservative society ‘Port and Policy
night’? Talk to Mike. I also never knew that Gene Simmons invented the
helicopter...
Plans
for the rest of the summer are simple. The E.P. is in good hands, so we’ll be
in touch with you with regards to how you can get hold of it. We also plan to
keep on gigging. Since the last post we’ve played quite a few gigs, and they
have gone rather well, with a lot of events already wanting us back next year. Gigs
in barns seem to be a bit of a theme. Future gigging will involve a string of
dates in the northwest. 10 gigs in 15 days is something to look forward to! It’s
the first time Alpha Road has done gigs for more than 2 days in a row, so maybe
the upcoming 3 week break is a good way to prepare. Maybe we’ll see some of you
at the show?
.. P xxx
Tom
spent a lot of time in the studio trying to master this game. If you
complete it on the insane difficulty setting, give us a bell. Tom never made it, and not for want of trying. I'll probably be impressed enough to send you an unreleased Alpha Road MP3 if you do!
