Yesssss! Finally made it to Friday!

I wish I was out at SXSW like robot Mark - damn it, I'm so jealous I could spit - but someone's gotta try to hold down the fort here, right? Well, like I said, its Friday and that often means my posting some kind of jammy jam song - this Friday that jam comes in the form of an electro-body workout tune by Plus Device.

Plus Device... is... well, all I can tell you is the fact that Plus Device is "two well-known producers" - that's about as detailed as my actual description of the artist can get because Plus Device is one of those top-secret projects the label won't tell anyone about, so that's it. Really.

It sounds like some kind of Detroit electro funk, which it basically is: classic electro beat, squiggly bass grabs, robo voice telling you he wants your body heat. Its solid dope stuff. One of the big reasons for this is because the record, the Body Heat EP, is being released by the Chicagoland Hefty Records, known for their solid experimental electronic and instrumental Hip-Hop releases (ie: Eliot Lipp, whose track "Real Tragic" I posted back in October). RIYL: Cybotron, Mantronix, Drexciya, Depth Charge records, Rephlex records (esp. Ceephax Acid Crew), DMX Krew's Breakin' records, etc.

You can buy the record (12" or CD) direct from the Hefty website - which finally went through a total overhaul, and is now all gorgeous and flash-enabled. A lot of the time sites like that bug me, but navigation on the site is easy, and you can get to their webstore from each release's page. You can also download the EP from iTunes.

So, go ahead and do the robot at your desk, or in the car on the way home from work, because its nearly the weekend, and that is reason enough to celebrate.
