What up - It is November and it was just one single and two tries in the music scene. After several plays of "Lovethief" the ruling was that Albany's "Lunic" would end up landing on my list of best bands of 2009. With single "Him" spinning on my Top 40 chart. This band is as serious as that other wonderful band who I loved from this area from that ended their run last year that would be "Bipolar" I saw "Lunic" twice in the scene and both times they rocked. Last month "Jes Hudak" scored in "Moon and River Cafe" in Schenectady. In September the group I named the best new group in 2007 "Charlie Everywhere" who switched their name to "Phantogram" and were the best group for "Saratoga Springs" annual "Final Stretch Festival" nailing down high ratings like they did when they played in venues like "Falstaff's" and on top of the "Tang" in Skidmore College. "Lunic's" album "Lovethief" is headed in the direction of Jes Hudak's immense 2002 record "Tiny Dream" If we turn back the history books we find that "Hudak" has the highest ratings ever from Caffe Lena's Open Mic. For "Lunic" they are charting their own course of success in this region's lame music scene. You have to go back more than two years ago when NYC based "In Flight Radio" rocked Albany's "Red Square" Fast forward two years later that time it was "Lunic" trying to control the immense "Hudson River" with their music. Around the globe people are getting the message that decent music can be from somewhere called "Albany" That's the thing that makes you like "Lunic" they don't care what other people think of them. Yes that's the ticket. Sure in "Revenge of the Lot Lizard" lead singer "Kaitee Page" will swear to make a point. She will do the same in the ahead of style "Sober" Singing along with some mild swearing well it happens in a lot of songs. Anyone who has seen the fantastic group "Ace of Base" with the video "Happy Nation" when the lead singer looks at the camera. The point is I like "Lunic" and I think you will as well. So plan a night out and gear up for music from the best new local band of this year.
