I'm seeing a lot of bulletins about concerns over the appointment of Rahm Emanuel and what position the Obama admin will take over Israel and Palestine.  That is an issue that I have been concerned with for a long time, and one I haven't taken lightly in supporting Obama..  So, to those of you who have worries, I'd like to share my thoughts..  I don't care to get into back and forth discussions about it, but I do want to at least put my own voice out there for a differing opinion..

This bulletin is a good example of those being posted, so I'm using it as the springboard for my comments..

RE: Rahm Emmanuel & Obama's Israel policy+Aipac Lobby-4parts

I haven't watched all of these videos -- not enough time now, but I do know the fears about Obama and his position on the Israel/Palestinian situation and what policies his administration will have..  Granted through the campaign he appeared to migrate more and more toward Israel, but I also listened closely to his words and realized that they could be ambiguous at best..  Had he not shown a support of Israel, he would NOT have been elected.. That's pure and simple fact... The appointment of Rahm Emanuel, at least to me, isn't so troubling as he is not appointed a policymaker, that won't be his job..  Everyone has strong opinions about a vast number of things and they have strengths in areas that need to be utilized. So, that part doesn't bother me - for now..

I saw Jimmy Carter interviewed yesterday.. I admire and respect Jimmy Carter more than most, and highly respect his opinions.. In fact, I have him listed as one of my heroes on my profile page..  He certainly cannot be touted as unfairly leaning toward Israel, and he has even laid his own reputation on the line speaking up for Palestine - one of the reasons I have such a high regard for him..  He is far more "in the know" of what Obama's position is on Israel than what we as the general public or pundits who just speculate; and he is fully supporting Obama..  I am confident if Obama were as strong toward Israel as is being feared,  he would not support him..

Here is the interview he gave yesterday..  It made me feel a heck of lot better after hearing so much criticisms of Obama on this issue..  Time will tell, and I think it only fair to wait and see before we all jump to conclusions right now...

And just to add -- I think it goes without saying that the Obama admin will be far more fair toward Palestine than the McCain/Palin ticket would have been..  Obama is no dummy, and he knows that the world is looking to him to have a more balanced approach to that peace process..
