If you are on NFP's mailing list, you should have gotten a postcard about Friday's and next Sunday's events earlier this week. If you didn't get it, please send your name and mailing address to me and I'll add you to that list. You could send it by email to NFPOmaha@NebraskansForPeace.org Also below is new information about the March for Peace that is this Saturday.

Chen Alon is a former Israeli solder who, with a group of fellow soldiers, was discharged for refusing to participate in military action against the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories. The Combatants for Peace is an organization of Israelis and Palestinians who were previously involved in the cycle of violence either as Israeli combat soldiers or as Palestinian freedom fighters.  Today they work together to find non-violent solutions to the conflict in their land.

Nebraskan's for Peace's
Rice and Beans "Picnic" – Sunday, June 1, 2008

Hanscom Park Pavilion, 32nd and Woolworth Avenue, Omaha, NE
2:00 p.m. -- 4:00 p.m.

Not only will we be eating what many of the world's people eat but also like them we will be without heating or air-conditioning.  Join us for an "outdoor" picnic (in the Pavilion) for our Annual Rice and Beans Dinner.  UNL Economics Professor Hendrik van den Berg will be the keynote speaker addressing real causes of the current economic recession.

This should be more fun for families than our past dinners.
Bring your outdoor toys for the kids - a Frisbee, a ball to share, . . .

Please bring a "bean dish" to share.  NFP will supply the rice, drinks, and place settings. We do need you to RSVP to nfpOmaha@NebraskansForPeace.org or 453-0776 so we will know how much rice to make.  Please send a message with a SUBJECT of:  "RSVP Rice and Beans - ___ People" letting us know the number of people who will attend so we make enough rice for everyone.

This is the Omaha Chapter of NFP's annual fundraiser, so please bring your checkbook and an open heart.
-------------------------------------------------------------

I hope to see you at some or all of these peace and justice events.

Peace,

Today's March was great. Thanks for being so cool, for bring signs, bullhorn, and all the other stuff, for getting media there, and for being so flexible with "here carry this, no, wait, I want that one, etc." You are the shiznit!
