Who Gives Kudos:

Wednesday, April 25, 2007

Coming off a great show last night with Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), Mick Mars (Motley Crue), Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Alanis Morisette, Jill Sobule and Ben Harper, Wayne Kramer personally invites you to:

Saturday Night at Hotel Café -- Rock and Revolution with The MC5 and the White Panther Party.

Guitar Army is the incendiary book that proclaimed "Rock and Roll is a Weapon of Cultural Revolution" for young, revved-up readers in 1972. Author John Sinclair spearheaded the leftist revolutionary vanguard White Panther Party along with Wayne Kramer's Detroit rock band The MC5. The 35th anniversary release of Guitar Army chronicles these years of revolution through Sinclair's street writings and prison writings, with over 80 photographs, illustrations, concert flyers and comics from the period.

Hear new songs live for the first time ever this Saturday night. Wayne and The Lexington Arts Ensemble will perform songs from Wayne's new album LEXINGTON, which he wrote and arranged with trumpeter Dr. Charles Moore, co-founder of the Contemporary Jazz Quintet. The album is comprised of songs inspired by Wayne's time at Lexington Federal Penitentiary and by the upcoming ITVS-funded film THE NARCOTICS FARM, which chronicles the history of the prison, Wayne's alma mater. It's directed by JP Olsen.
