Adding more fuel to the media fire that presumptive Republican nominee Sen. John McCain did not fully vet Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin before selecting her to be his running mate, it has been revealed the one-time sportscaster and former beauty queen was once a member of Chicago garage-pop sensations, Teenage Imposters.

The news has rocked the political world, with GOP insiders stunned about the most recent revelation. "We could handle troopergate," one RNC staffer said, on the condition of anonymity. "And, sure, she's flip-flopped on the 'Bridge to Nowhere' and nearly bankrupted that podunk town when she was mayor. But this, this Teenage Imposters thing, this is gonna kill the base of the party."

Indeed, many Republican operatives were left shaking their heads as Palin confirmed she once played tambourine and sang back-up vocals for Teenage Imposters. "You're darn right it's not something I'm proud of, nor do I wish to repeat," Palin read from a prepared statement. "Frankly, I wish I could say I faked the whole thing. You betcha!"

It remains to be seen how this latest disclosure will impact the presidential race, but some inside the GOP are worried. "It was bad enough her preggo daughter sort of undermined our whole 'abstinence-only' education schtick," the RNC staffer continued. "But that's nothing compared to this bombshell. Teenage Imposters are godless freaks. Pregnant teens we can deal with, but Teenage Imposters? I just don't see how that's gonna play with our values voters."
