Greetings Muchachos,

I have been meaning to write something about this for quite some time now. The last time i was out in the US touring with the band we came in contact for the very first time with an extroadinary American alt blues act fronted by The Reverend Josh Peyton on guitar and augmented on either side by his wife Washboard Breezy Peyton and his younger brother Jayme Peyton on drums.
With pretty much the same immediacy that the Reverend Peytons Big Damn Band won over the hearts of an audience on a nightly basis they pretty much won the affection of the entire mighty stef touring family. The Reverend himself, a relentless recounter of anecdotes, each more amusing or interesting than the one before would have us all in stitches spinning yarns about everything from the US gun laws to his love of fried chicken.

The Music itself was a ferocious mix of down-home country blues with the manic guitar stylings of a primitive punk-rock-americana witchdoctor....tacklind topics such as their old man getting drunk and being unruly whenever he comes to see their shows, songs about estranged cousins showing up on TV's 'Cops' programme. Old Thyme gospel hymns with an extra injection if be-jaysus and an overall goodtime feel.

They have 3 records available to buy on thier myspace page
http://www.myspace.com/therevpeytonsbigdamnband
Big Damn Nation and Gospel Album are both from their 'family owned' record label and their most recent offering 'the whole fam damnily' is thier first on sideonedummy records, the california based label who proudly brought us gogol bordello, flogging molly and so many others.

The Reverend Peytons big damn Band are legends and i just wanted to put out a universal recommendation to anybody that ever checks out the mighty stef webspace here that you go and purchase one, two or indeed all of their albums. Apart from being an amazing live act they really took us under thier wing and taught us a little bit about life on the road, the do's and dont's...on occasion wed be all called aside and told we need a proper good meal by the rev.. hed warn us about the dangers of drugs and alcohol while he dished out moonshine liquor potent enough to end the worlds fuel crisis, home brewed by his cousins in indiana. on one occasion he and breezy so concerned for the wellbeing of one of our lot brought him to the hospital....a decent bunch of people...true music maker...true music lovers...

the least you can do is stop by thier myspace and have a look and listen....tell them i sent ya..
