Im sure there are some great bands trading out of Dublin and every other part of Ireland at this present time. In fact, i know there are. im mates with some of them, and i give a fuck about the home-grown scene so i try and keep informed about whats happening in this country music-wise as much as i can.
However, hot on the heels of 'The Script' comes another death nell for the so-called 'industry' in this country...On a Ryanair flight back from Paris the other day i seen an interesting ad for Irelands next emerging pop sensation..
Ryanair are the scum of the earth. The crack dealer of airlines.. no matter how much the experience of their cheap flights fuck up your life, no matter how mistreated you are, even if they seat your disabled girlfriend in the aircrafts out-of-use jax...no matter how violated or depressed you feel after the Ryanair experience you will always come back for more. Michael O Leary has tightened his game on us like a firm handed pimp on a stable of weak tricks. Our resistance is now futile.
Its for that reason that i was happy to discover that as a recording artist based out of Dublin Ireland i have some new competition...a Ryanair backed illustated insect called 'Ryan The Fly...or Mr Superfly'....he comes all dressed in blue just like his sponsors cabin crew members and drops some killer lyrics over the annoying Jingle that they play at the beginning of the Ryanair flight when they are informing you about how you are gonna be financially raped once the steel bird gets airborne. Over the past two years i have referred to it as the Scratchcard tune. I never actually thought it would be graduated to a legitimate chart contender but now with the emergence of the blue fly, come late november Ryanair are 'spreading their wings' and joining the ranks of berry gordy, phil spector, simon cowell in the world of the Pop Mogul.

Im pretty sure that my humble existance in the Pop world will pale in comparison to mr Superfly but thats ok. im not bitter, he is a worthy adversary and i wish him all the very best.
Long live Irish Music!!!
