HOW DO I GO BACK?

This was answered in my original blog post. From the Profile dropdown main menu (on the nav) choose "Customize Profile." When the editor is loaded click the "Go Back" link in the top right. Then choose the 1.0 option. Don't click it multiple times, or it'll probably show an error (that'll be fixed soon).

I DONT LIKE 2.0 BECAUSE I CANT USE LAYOUTS!

Wrong! You just can't use 1.0 layouts! And, all layouts must be placed in the new CSS box. (You cannot put layout/css codes in the About Me, or anywhere else. They must go in the CSS box.)

I'M WAITING FOR SITES TO CREATE MYSPACE LAYOUTS BEFORE I SWITCH

Try Pyzam.com, they already have 2400 layouts -- nearly all their 1.0 layouts to 2.0 Layouts! Here's a direct link to their 2.0 page: http://www.pyzam.com/myspace2layouts

HOW DO I CHANGE THE 3 NEW PICS THAT APPEAR NEAR THE TOP?

Each module has special features. To access them, click the pencil icon on the top right of the module. Once this opens up, click the text link (top right) "Edit Basic Information." From there you can choose your 3 photos. There's a bug on small screen sizes where you can't see the "Save Changes" button that sits underneath the 3 photos. If you can't see it on your screen, just go to the regular Edit Profile link from the nav menu or home page - not, the customize page, just the regular edit profile page. The Edit profile link lets you edit your profile information (without using any customization options). Since its not in a popup window, you'll be able to save the three photos here.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE NUMBER OF TOP FRIENDS?

Click the pencil in the right corner of the friends module. You'll be able to set the number of friends you'd like to display. To change the friends that actually appear there, you still need to go to friends and click the "Change Top Friends" link.

HOW DO I CHANGE MY BACKGROUND IMAGE?

Click "Advanced Edit," then choose "Background." Copy & Paste the link to the background image you want to use in the "URL" field . Then click PREVIEW to see if your image appeared properly.

WHY CAN'T I USE BASIC HTML IN EACH PROFILE SECTION? LIKE CENTER?

Some basic tags, like b, i, and center are being improperly filtered. We're converting b and i to strong and em and will have them working Wednesday morning. We're still working on center, and hope to have a fix next week.

HOW DO I MAKE MY 2.0 PROFILE PRIVATE?

With 2.0 there is no longer a single privacy on & off switch that affects the whole profile. (Your "My Account/Privacy" setting no longer applies once you convert to 2.0). Instead, you need to set the privacy on a module by module basis. The idea is you can show some things to the public, and other things to friends only. You can even show certain modules to specific categories of friends you've created on the friends page "my categories" tab. To set the privacy for a module, click the pencil in the top right, then click the radio button to choose who can see the module. Check the box "apply to all modules" if you want to make your whole profile viewable to the category you just selected.

There are little bugs here and there that were revealed when things went live to the whole site this morning. We are going to roll out a fix for several bugs Wednesday morning, November 12th (should be done by 10am). That said, the bugs are minor and you should be able to have a lot of fun with 2.0 right now. Try it out. :-)

i love the fact that we'll now be able to have photos viewed by only certain categories of friends - but because photos aren't a module when i go to customize profile, i can't figure out how to do it - please advise! thanks ;)

We are working on new music layout styles, but they're not ready yet. The player will resize with the columns of your 2.0 profile also, so it won't look funky. :-)

Already switched

Amazing job, Tom + team!!! THANX FOR THIS LAYOUT!!!!

Now PLEASE fix top friends randomly displaying after I select a category. It's still only sorting by friend ID if I limit the total number of friends. That's not fair to newer users and better friends... hint hint ;)

That's a feature in friends/edit top friends. You can set the friends you want to appear, or you can choose randomize. You're set to randomize right now.

Hey, it took me a while to find this, too, so I wanted to save you the time, in case you're still looking! Go to Customize Profile from the drop-down, then click the pencil icon that's right under 'Sign Out' on your profile. That will give you the option to hide your last log-in! :)

I have the same problem. I have set most modules to friends only and get the same as above but I would think it should give basic info like before when I am not logged on, not an error.

I've been designing personal 1.0 layouts for quite a while now, so I'm excited to start trying my hand at creating layouts for 2.0 :D

Should be a whole new experience altogher, and probably a much less frustrating/trial-and-error one

My applications are still viewable to the public, though I did select to be viewed by only friends and on all modules. I have gone into the settings of each application & unchecked anything marked "allow access to public" or "private" photos & videos. However, my applications are still showing up though nothing else is.

Is there something I am overlooking; some setting elsewhere maybe...? Any help would be lovely.

I love 2.0 and being able to put everything where I want it, but I also love my applications - and my privacy. For now will go back to 1.0 and will await a fix on making applications viewable by friends before switching to 2.0.

When you put in a background url it makes all the letters lowercase, resulting in photobucket pictures not working. Is this just happening to me or is it to everyone?

Yes, we'll be using something similar to the user shortcuts on profiles now - extra commands will be in the nav itself. (This prevents them from getting messed up by user styles.)

there's an option to hide user names on your friends list, but if you put the mouse over the picture the name still shows up. kind of defeats the purpose of the whole thing. any way to fix that?

I converted to 2.0 this morning, a few hours after roll out and ever since there has been an error message when anyone tries to view it. I can see it when I'm logged in, but not when I'm logged out and none of my friends can bring it up.

BUT!!!! I still love the changes and am excited to see how much MySpace has evolved over the past few years.

Everyone complaining about the simple tags being removed (center, bold, italicized, etc.), I recommend you move on to CSS, as in the next version of HTML because these tags will be depreciated.

AWESOME! Just yesterday I was wondering if MySpace would ever use current web standards instead of the awful embedded tables that made it a nightmare to customize the layout. The option to upgrade to Profiles 2.0 or keep the original with the CSS hacks is great!

I jumped on upgrading to 2.0 and enjoyed customizing the layout of the modules, the location of the modules, and especially what is displayed in the modules. Now I'm off to work on customizing the colors and background...

I have noticed that because I have everything set to "friends only", absolutely nothing is shown to non-friends. How do I get the profile photo and basic info to show, as in Profiles 1?

I just edited mine and all I can say is I am so happy with the improvements to the profiles. I love the customizable modules. I was having fun moving them around to make mine unique. I do have one request and that is can you do a theme Simply Green? or use another name since Simply Green is a cleaning product.

I want to say thank you very much for all the changes.

Well like Tom said it'll take a little bit to figure things out and take your time and read between the lines. I'm over 40 and figured it out, it's very cool once you get going. The Pimp-My-Profile layouts will work in the new 2.0 profile, I just used one and it did work. You have to put it in the CSS space of the new 2.0 INSTEAD of the "about me" section in either the new or old profile. And you do have to delete your layout in the old profile for it to work in the new one, or it won't show up on your new one. I hope this helps you all out there...Peace and enjoy !!!

LOVE 2.0!
Great work Tom!

One suggestion though...
now that Myspace 2.0 gives you the ability to move and change up your modules, I think it would be cool if you could add blank modules and put whatever you wanted in them.

For example, I would like to have a blank module (with no heading...just completely blank) where I can put icons or one where I can put pictures from DVD/CD covers or even one where I can put my slide show...that way users could REALLY customize their profile!

That would be awesome!

Thanks Tom!

Tom, i have a Dizzler MP3 player on my page streaming over 100 of my favourite songs, when i convert over to 2.0 my player only works if preset to auto play but then i have lost all control over the control buttons.
Is this because the player is inserted on my page via an HTML code and if so what can i do about it to get it to function properly on the new page which i would like to use.
Thanks in advance Tom!

Also, still having trouble making my modules transparent - or my background even staying there for that matter. I like this though. Old school WYSISWIG. :)
