"Underwater" pretty much defines the sound of early '60s A.M. radio in Los Angeles.  All the ads started to sound like that too.  They would hire Plas Johnson a lot to do this, and, he even copied The Frogmen when Joe Saraceno did his next record (after he "produced" "Underwater") "Surfer's Stomp" by The Marketts.  Oh yes, that was Plas, and Joe, copying what those boys from Westchester invented.  The Frogmen's "Underwater" was a big hit in early 1961 preceding Dick Dale's "Let's Go Trippin'," The Belairs "Mr. Moto" and The Beach Boys' "Surfin'" which all came out in the fall of '61.  And then, Brian Wilson took the riff from "Underwater," added a bit from Hank Ballard's "Finger Poppin' Time" and came up with "Do It Again" in '68 when The Beach Boys needed a summer hit so bad.
