A couple of years ago, this line-up, THE JACKIE LEVEN SMALL WORLD ORCHESTRA played a European tour which started in the German steel city of Solingen. We were very surprised when we arrived at the venue to discover that it was a Cornish pub - the only one in Germany. There are many Irish pubs in Germany, of course, most of them terrible, but a Cornish pub? It was a great place, and felt very much like being in Cornwall, until you looked out of the window...I have recorded many of my best albums in Cornwall – at the famous Sawmills studio, which you can only get to by boat, so I feel very at home in Cornish pubs – the people here were friendly, and there was good German beer, instead of the shit they sell in Cornwall.
It was a great evening which was recorded very well, and I know that a lot of people, especially in the UK, were sorry that they could not see this live line-up. So we've decided to release this live album from the Cornish pub performance.
It has everything you would want – great playing, good stories, fun and sadness – and even a rare playing of 'SNOW IN CENTRAL PARK' – what more do you want?!
We're releasing it in a very simple format- no glossy booklet and all that stuff – BUT, along with every copy I shall be sending a unique and original letter containing unpublished lyrics, each one different, addressed to you – yes, you! If you saw how much good stuff I write that does not come out as songs for a long time, you would not believe it, and it will be pleasure to share some of this with you.
