Has it really been 34 days since we left Seattle to go on tour? Damn, this month has gone by so fast. So far, the tour's been great. We've been making new friends along the way, whether it be new faces at the shows, couchsurfing hosts, or the bands we've been playing with. There's great folks all across the country, and that's awesome.
New York at the CMJ Music Marathon was like a whirlwind. We had no time to rest, as we were running around, catching panels, going to other bands' shows, and promoting our own show. The most "New York" thing I did was eat from Halel food trucks and jaywalk. But I love that town, and it felt great to be there, regardless. The opportunity was a blessing and I definitely believe that this is just the start of Veritas getting bigger and better.
Our afternoon Hot Topic acoustic gigs have been getting really good. We've been enjoying the hell out of them this tour. You don't get any of the sweet stage moves, obviously, but it's a different element of Veritas that is a lot more intimate. With these afternoon shows and the concurring evening shows almost daily, we'll have played 60 shows in 52 days when we get back home.
We've had only one true day off to go sightseeing so far. We spent it in Washington DC, where we hung out with Will's brother. I was the only one in the band who had not been to DC before, and, man... I really enjoyed seeing the sights. The Lincoln Memorial - specifically the statue of Abe himself, was grand. I'm glad that one sightseeing day was spent in DC.
I'm really miffed about tonight's show in Atlanta getting cancelled. I have a ton of young family down there who have never seen Veritas perform. We'll be down there though at some point, for sure, but it was one of the shows I was looking forward to most.
I haven't injured anyone yet on this tour, so that's good. Knock on wood....
And no, that doesn't mean we get a day off. Today's a driving day. From Charlotte to Memphis. As Chanel would say, "Oy...."
Sorry we haven't been blogging as much as we did in the past tours. Internet's been spotty, and the times we do get to use it, there's so much we have to do. Being a rock star is fucking hard work! :) Besides, the Myspace/Facebook/Twitter status updates keep you guys in the loop, right? I wonder if those status update/tweets are causing people to blog less?
Another 3 weeks til we get back home. It'll be nice to get back to my bed, but man, I love the road.
Peace out!
