Current mood: accomplished
I kind of was tossing around the idea of writing a new blog but I couldn't think of anything new and exciting (because there never is). Then it hit me right in the face, we finally have the new record. Finally, after almost 4 years (1.5 with me in the band) of this bands existence, we have a full length record. It's almost surreal, I almost can't think of what to do, now that it's out. We can actually play some shows now. We actually have new songs. And we finally have something to give everybody who has been waiting patiently. Everything from the ideas of the songs, to sitting down with them in my room, to showing them to everyone at practice, to making a complete song out of them, then to finally recording them is such an amazing feeling. We wrote our record above all odds. For many bands, this is just another thing that being a band is all about. For us, getting this out was one of the most important things to us. We needed to show people our anger, frustration, our emotions, our ideas, our music.
For those of you who have the cd and noticed that there were no "thank yous", I want you to know that the list of people to thank is far greater than any thank you list we can can actually conjure up. I seemed to oppose the idea the most, because I feel that anyone who helped knows that they are not taken for granted and get praise from us. And any one who gave us the cold shoulder or was unfaithful to their ideas, themselves or to us, knows that they need not be mentioned. I didn't want a list of regrets like the other releases had. I wanted everyone to feel like they were some how part of the record, just as bands don't thank themselves, I didn't want to thank people. And I sincerely hope you all understand.
This is a new era for 7 Generations, I feel like we have grown musically, emotionally, and I feel like we've grown wiser. We are certainly the same band that was outspoken about subjects we have always been outspoken about, but there is a new feel. Chris said it best..."7 Generations is an attempt on behalf of five individuals to express their angst, frustrations, ideas and hope. In doing so 7 Generations seeks to create moments within the hardcore community in which we can express these aspects of ourselves and share these moments with individuals who desire an outlet for their own expression of similar emotions, or perhaps individuals awaiting a recognition of these feelings within themselves...We have no delusions of our band holding some grandiose purpose that will have an impact on the world. We do not expect to become a cornerstone of punk rock history. We are simply five individuals who are thoroughly discontent with many aspects of civilization and we are attempting to vent our anger and share our hope with anyone willing."
Read the lyrics, read the explanations, ask us questions, sing along, throw a brick, a molotov, light a match, set something ablaze, super glue a lock, spray paint their buildings, open up a cage and leave those fuckers with nothing left to live for, get involved, get active, whatever you do-resist, until there's nothing left to lose.
The vision lives on, 7 Generations.
