Tonight I had a conversation that I believe is going to mark a turning point for me. I'm going out on a limb to say that because it's always a risk to make a statement like that. But here goes....
For those of you who have known me for sometime, I've always been a goal-oriented person... health-wise, career-wise... determined to reach goals, big or small..... When I said "I'm going to run 26.2 miles in a marathon in San Diego" people said I was crazy. I'm not a runner or an athlete really.... but I did it. When I said "I'm going to become a teacher" people said I was crazy. I would have to quit my job and work my butt off... but I did it. Maybe I'm too motivated by proving people wrong but if you want to know that I'll accomplish something... tell me I can't do it!
I may not be an athlete or have all the money in the world but one thing I do have is determination to make my life what I want it to be. Because I believe that we get to choose.... we get to choose if we sit on the couch all day... if we let stress get the best of us... if we eat that one last doughnut... if we keep the faith or if we sit around complaining that things didn't quite "turn out" they way they should have for us. Well, guess what, this is just the beginning. We are perfectly capable of amazing things.
However, sometimes even I need to be reminded of that. And tonight I was blessed to connect with someone that truly did remind me of some of the things I tend to forget in the craziness of life.... that whatever our goals are... we all need each other for support and accountability. And when we least expect it someone is put in our path to inspire us and to say the words we need to hear to know that no matter what you've been doing up to this point... how far you've gotten off track... how far it seems from "point A to point B"... how old you are or how many sets of twins you've had... we are absolutely, no doubt, able to achieve the life and well being that is meant for us.
Maybe, if you've read this far, you're sitting there thinking "oh ya, this doesn't apply to me..." Or "oh, that Molly, crazy girl".... or maybe.... for just a moment... you're going to think that "if she can do it... so can I".
I've got two words for you ... PERFECTLY CAPABLE.
