when jon "the barber" gutwillig was my "guitar hero."

him and "the edge" were my main inspirations; as far as phrasing and effects... gutwillig has the chops to be the next "trey," but his tone and phrasing is so much different than trey's... and i always loved the edge's simplicity (of course aided by delay)...

i don't know where i am going with this... i guess i kind of miss playing electric guitar.

but i have no reservations pursuing my true love... acoustic fingerstyle.

i sold all of my electric equipment except for my electric guitar and my memory man pedal... i will never EVER part with the memory man. that pedal defined me as a guitar player for many years...

but whatever, the new deal killed my brain last night... if you want to see the absolute best live "electronica" band on the planet earth, go see them. i've seen them close to a dozen times and they only get better.

if you are a fan of the event "making time" in philly, i highley suggest you check out the new deal.

the first time they played live together they released a fucking album, because it was so good.

buy "this is live" and i dare you not to dance.

ps. they played the pier a few years ago and then played a "secret" show at some bar on south street later that night. literally, the crowd was in the bands' face because it was such a small venue. the entire first set i screamed for their song "subsky" relentlessly... when they came back to the stage after setbreak, i was still screaming for "subsky." as the members of the band passed me, jamie said, "subsky, subsky, subsky, subsky" over and over again. dan said, "what's 'subsky?'"

needless to say, they played "subsky" throughout their entire 2nd set... wish granted.

BIG TIME!!!!

begging one of my favorite band's to play my favorite song of their's for an ENTIRE SET was one of the best musical moment's of my life and i will never forget it.
