From the series "Formed" by Dave Edwards at North Point Comminuty Church.

It is was basically defining a person of character. A person in pursuit of Godly character to be more specific. Dave said that a person in pursuit of Godly character has predetermined that they will do everything in their power to live a life of, well, Godly character. These changes occur from the inside out. Not vice versa. You don't change because you have the control to do so. You do it out of the love that you have for Christ. You do it because you want nothing more than to please Him. You base your life around what God wants, both for, and from you. When you turn your life over to Christ, all of the other religious dos and donts just come with it over time. This doesnt justify sinful actions. When you know something you're partaking in isn't considered Christ-like, you don't do it. Ephesians 5 says to "walk in love, light, and wisdom. To find out what is acceptable to the lord. To speak, sing, and give thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."

A Person of Godly Character (Psalm 15:2-5)

1. Always does the right thing. Does what God wants.

2. Has enough integrity to deal with their mistakes. This means, you own up to them. Hold yourself accountable for them. You don't use them as an excuse to justify sinful actions. You learn from them, and point blank, fix it.

3. Is honest. Always speaks the truth. Never does anything that may look sketchy. An honest person avoids the appearance of evil. This doesn't mean you cut people out of your life that aren't of Godly character. This just means that you do not take part in the things they do that could diminish yours. Make sense?

4. Disciplines words. Never say things you don't mean AND/OR belittles others. Even if you're being literally cursed out by another, control yourself. The Bible says to practice self-control. Verbally hurting or abusing someone holds no part in your place on earth. It brings others down, and you should be the one to pull them up.

5. Defends the righteous. God says to defend His people no matter what. I'm sure, again, this doesnt mean feuding/fighting with them, but just taking a stand with your brother/sister in Christ. Showing the support and faith that you have in your Heavenly Father.

6. Keeps their word. Can't means can't. Yes means yes. No means no. This builds up trust in you.

7. Distributes wealth. You use your money to benefit others. To benefit Gods kingdom. He asks for ten percent. Outside of that ten percent, you should give yourself enough margin to help others in need of something. It could be small, or it could be big. Dont be stingy. Be selfless with your money. God will point you in the direction of someone that needs help. Give to that person. You'll get it all back sooner or later.

8. Doesn't use others. You don't look at relationships for what you can get out of them. You look at them for what you have to offer that person. Invest in others and in return, they'll invest in you.
