This is just an open letter to George Carlin.
The man was seriously my favorite comedian of all time and I am just saying that because he just passed away. I own 3 of his books, had the fortunate chance of seeing him live and I even had his calendar on my desk at work. The guy was/is a freaking genius and here is why. Not only was he funny as hell but everything he said made you think. It was almost as if he wasn't trying to do comedy. It was like he was just trying to get the right message out to the world. Everytime I would hear one of his jokes/stories, I would honestly question what I thought about the particular subject.
I think the best thing he ever did was a dialogue about being born as an old person and living your life in reverse.
The dude was a genius and if you never had the chance to enjoy him, please check out his books or his HBO specials. I just wanted to put this blog up in rememberance. Not that he needs it because everyone else in the world will be doing tributes. Either way, RIP George Carlin. You will be missed and comedy wouldn't have been the same without!
George Carlin once said:
The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends.
I mean, life is tough.
It takes up a lot of your time.
What do you get at the end of it?
A Death. What's that, a bonus?
I think the life cycle is all backwards.
You should die first; get it out of the way.
Then you live in an old age home.
You get kicked out because you're too young,
you get a gold watch and you go to work.
You work forty years
until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement.
You do drugs, alcohol, you party,
you get ready for high school.
You go to grade school,
you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities.
You become a little baby,
you go back into the womb,
spend your last nine months floating
and you finish off as an orgasm.
