NASHVILLE -- High-voltage stage performances by chart-topping superstars, along with revealing special segments about fan favorites, will mark the return of ABC's hottest music event this summer when "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock" airs Monday, Aug. 31 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network. The annual music bash, expanding to three hours for the first time, will air in HD with 5.1-channel surround sound.....

.. ..

Scheduled to perform are Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Julianne Hough, Jamey Johnson, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Jake Owen, Brad Paisley, Kellie Pickler, John Rich, Darius Rucker, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, and Zac Brown Band. In addition, Kid Rock performs his smash hit "Picture" with McBride, while Wynonna and Naomi Judd reunite as The Judds to perform together for the first time at the CMA Music Festival in six years. ....

.. ..

The special will show highlights from the CMA Music Festival held June 11-14 in Nashville. On- and off-stage segments and day-in-the-life vignettes showcasing the personalities and lifestyles of fan favorites will be presented:....

.. ..

Aldean declares it "Ladies Night at the CMA Music Festival" during a nightclub concert. He treats everyone to a performance of his hit, "She's Country" that segues to his performance at LP field.  ....

.. ..

Viewers encounter Paisley during a quiet moment alone on his tour bus speaking about his fans then encountering hundreds of them as they greet him outside his bus. Pickler's off-stage persona is captured as she spends the day with fans, charming them with her quick wit and sweet disposition. Pickler's admirers join her for some shopping at famous Nashville stores such as Ernest Tubb's Record Shop, where she autographs and gives some lucky fans her own CD's and stops by Mike's Soda Shop to taste "Kellie Pickler" ice cream. Later that night Pickler performs "Best Days of Your Life" at Fuel. ....

.. ..

The special takes a candid look at the hectic and fun day-in-the-life of Hough from getting ready at home to the convention center to a slew of press interviews such as "Good Morning America" with "All My Children's" Cameron Mathison. She then heads to sound check and wardrobe changes all the while meeting fans all along the way. ....

.. ..

Throughout the special, Pickler introduces interviews with some of the Festival's biggest performers in this multi-star segment. Brooks & Dunn, Chesney, McBride, McEntire, Rucker, and Sugarland offer celebrity insight and share their personal stories from the road, home and tours with viewers. Then Swift answers submitted questions from her six biggest fans and later she surprises them in a meet and greet.....

.. ..

The annual CMA Music Festival is unlike any other, with four days filled with more than one hundred hours of live music, 30 hours of autograph signings by Country Music's biggest names and up and comers, hundreds of  artists and celebrities, and a party list of thousands of avid fans. This is the fifth time ABC will broadcast this special - which invites the whole country to America's biggest Country Music bash - since the original Fan Fair® was launched in 1972. This year an average of 56,000 fans attended each day of CMA Music Festival, its biggest turnout yet.....

.. ..

The 2009 CMA Music Festival is organized and produced by the Country Music Association. "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock" will be shot in high definition and broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound.

Ever since ABC took over filming the festival, it's gone downhill.  They concentrate more on the "nobody's" and not on the "hot acts!"..(Like Luke Bryan!)...Their cameras block the view of the people who paid over $300.00 for their tickets as they put the cameras on the corners of the stage and are moving around up there so those of us off to the side (on the field) can't see half the time!!! (And I was in the front row!!)..I wish ABC would stop filming it! I taped the broadcast of it last year, but haven't even watched it, as they mess it up so badly! They took away one stage and now we have to watch OLD FOOTAGE on the screens in between acts rather than another artist coming on the 2nd stage right after one act finishes! It's really going downhill!!!

AGREE,  THE 2008 ABC SHOW WAS THE WORST ONE EVER.  I HOPE WITH THE EXTRA HOUR,  IT WILL BE BETTER THIS YEAR. I HAVE BEEN ATTENDING FAN FAIR SINCE 1998.

Why do segments on people like Kellie Picker who did basically nothing this year. Did she sign autographs and perform on any of the stages for the FANS? Why does ....Julianne Hough even have to be included? She was rained out! ..But we MUST include an ABC star for God's sake!!!! I want 2 stages back for the Riverfront and LP Field!..

Where is Jeff Bates in all of this.
we got to see him 6 times that week and we got to talk to him and get pictures  every time, He is a people person and I feel  that he should get to be seen . We saw more of him than anyone else because they were always changing stage setups and all we did was wait and wait and wait, I have been coming for 30 years and this year was my last, $3.00 for a bottle of water, $ 4.00 for a hot dog, What are you people thinking??????????? $25.00 to $45.00 for any other shows you might want to see, for the money I spent, I can go to every Jeff Bates show for the whole year! That is what I intend to do next year. Then you have things overlap each other, I gave up my statium show to see George Jones and it sure was worth it and His show was just wonderful. a lot of surprises, but I should have not had to choose for the prices.

I agree - they need to bring back two stages for both the Riverfront & the LP Field.  Also, letting the public into the Riverfront for free made the Riverfront too crowded.  I hope they include Luke Bryan too - doesn't look like this is a complete list.  I wouldn't be surprised if they updated this list in the next few weeks.

..We walked down to the Riverfront on Saturday and turned and walked away!!  WHY should those people get in for FREE?!?!?!  We paid big bucks for our FOUR DAY PASS and the riverfront USED to be a part of that ticket price...they 'took that away from us" and didn't lower the price or offer anything in exchange!!!  PLUS now Gold Seat Holders can't even go up from their seats and get in the Photo line at LP Field like they've done FOR YEARS!!! Now we are expected to go with all the rest of the people and miss half of the performances doing so...CMA is ripping us off!!! Yeah, I went ahead and bought my tickets for next year, but don't know how much more I can take....Security is horrible, as they let those from the photo line stand up on the little ledge right in front of us on the field and we can't see a darn thing!!!  I'd just as soon they NARROW the photo line or just do away with it all together (which wouldn't surprise me, as they seem to do away with anything else the fans tend to like!)...They said they got a "record crowd" but I don't see HOW they did it...unless they are counting those that showed up at the Riverfront FOR FREE!?!?!  I didn't even see Brad Paisley's name on the lineup and he just performed at the White House for gosh sakes!!! CMA open your eyes!!! TRY to satisfy the FANS who support the music fest...don't worry about taking care of the "general public for FREE!!"..

i agree as well. the 2 stages was alot better. i don't mind the filming, however the tents really need to be alittle smaller. i love cma, but where is folks like tim m and faith. it was nice to see kenny for the first time in years, what about putting toby keith on stage? it woulda been nice to see people like darrell worley on the big stage, neil mccoy too.

After all that's been said here I have to agree with one thing, making the Riverfront free to the public was not a good thing in my opinion. It took away alot from us 4 day pass holders. We attempted to go down and see Craig Morgan perform but we weren't there 20 mins. and we ended up leaving before he even made it onstage . It was packed, there was barely any room to walk. The fact that there was only one stage just made it worse because if you weren't in front of the stage, you couldn't see a thing. I mean, you literally had to get there early in the morning to get a good spot and if you wanted to see someone that didn't perform until later in the day, you had to sit there and wait the whole time because if you got up, you lost your spot. In past years, we've been able to go down in the middle of the day to see a particular artist and get right upfront because people came to see who they wanted and left so people were constantly coming and going, whereas this year people didn't budge. It was ridiculous, needless to say we didn't waste anymore of our time down there. Which is kinda sad because there were some great acts down there this year.

But in the end that didn't matter because we still had the best time hanging out with friends who we've come to know and love over the years, all thanks to CMAFest.
