Thanks to everyone who lined up for the rock treatment last Thursday night!
For those of you who couldn't make it, it was a massive affair. The Plough was packed with peeps getting their drink on and the sonic side of the evening went off seamlessly:
· San Francisco's The Countless Others, a five-piece that includes a tambourine man, kicked things off with some hard-hitting, psych-inflected rock and roll -- sort of a Kinks-meets-Thirteenth-Floor-Elevators thing.
· We came out swinging for the second set and our fat-free version of 1970's hard rock was, to say the least, well-received.
· Bringing up the rear (typically, Mr. Forever's specialty), was San Jose's Manchester School, and these guys used their kinetic new wave stylings to create a thick John Hughes-movie vibe (Rick, the singer, even looks a bit like "Breakfast Club"-era Judd Nelson) -- it was the perfect clincher for the perfect evening.
Victory was, of course, assured, and we knew this, but it's still nice to win. Thanks again to everyone who came out! See you all next time... (February 10 at Rooster's Roadhouse in Alameda.)
