I wrote this song a few years ago when I was struggling to get a healthy perspective on the concepts of marriage, family and life in general. While I'm not yet married and I have no children, I wanted to write a song that would cast a vision for what I hoped my family would look like someday. As a child, I remember finding a great deal of comfort and security in knowing that my parents loved each other. Even when the world was falling apart around me, my world was ok because my family was ok. Although the picture painted by the lyrics of this song is not yet a reality for many, it is something we can aspire to. All is Right
A song by Erika Chambers—a child who watched her parents fall in love again.
Last night I saw you kiss her on the porch
I watched you from the window
Just before I turned my covers down
Now I can go to sleep and know
That everything is right
With the world, with the night
All is right.
I listen to you laugh outside my room
You're whispering your nothings,
And you don't think I can hear you
But when I go to sleep I know
That everything is right
With the world, with the night
All is right.
And I can rest my head upon
The thought of you still going strong
And I can dream of days I know will be
When a love like yours will find me
Tonight I watched you dancing in the dark
To music from a stereo you set beneath the stars
Now I can go to sleep and know
That everything is right
With the world, with the night
All is right.
All is right.
