| RODRIGUEZ JR - RUBBO SWINGO EP | | OUT NOW ON LEENA MUSIC | One of the most exciting and awaited releases from super-producer Rodriguez Jr hits the decks on the 4th of february ! | After Holger Zilske (aka Smash TV), Catz n' Dogz (aka 3 Channels) and Paul Brtschitsch, Mobilee's new offshoot label Leena - a label designed for 'guest appearances only' from respected producers world-wide - releases its fourth release since the label's beginning in June 2007: Rodriguez Jr with the 'Rubbo Swingo' EP.The first track, 'Rubbo Swingo' jacks in with a heavy and rolling bottom-line, cut up with mindbending spacey synth detail. Designed for lateness/designed for loudness. The second track 'Soledad' steps in with marching beats and lets a jazz inspired melody take hold as it draws you into the trippy deepness. Rodriguez Jr is also known as one half of French Dance Act The Youngsters, signed to LaurentGarnier's F-Com - releasing albums 'Lemon Orange' in 2001 and 'the Army of 1-0' in 2004, aswell as a plethora of EP releases.Exclusive distribution by Also available on BEATPORT (digital exclusive) LEENA04 IN THE MEDIAS & DJ FEEDBACKSLaurent Garnier (F-Com) : Absolutely stunning B side I have been hammering it for the past month... Looove it.
Anthony Collins (Get Physical) : B1 - Soledad - Sweet sunny summer track it will make pass the winter with some sun for my ears.
Kiki (BPitch) : Soledad ist ein grossartiges stuck musik! Habe es in playa del carmen gespielt und ziemlich viele leute haben auch danach gefragt! 2 auf mein charts fur trax mag! Leena 04 is killer !
Tobi Neumann (Cocoon) : I like soledad. Nice sad melody & good production
Shinedoe (Intacto) : Top 10: 5
Josh Wink (Ovum) : I like the Soledad track the best of the two. Will be playing for sure. A catchy tune. Not something I haven't heard before, but it's good! Similar to the Loco Dice track on m-nus...
2000 and One : THIS THE ABSOLUTE BOMB!!!! That B-Side should be the A-Side !!! 100% sure about that. Ralf, Anja you guys did a wonderfull A&R job. Congrats with this hit. Number 1 in my january 2008 chart !!! Crazy, crazy, crazy... Wow thanx for this !!!
Karotte (Cocoon) : B seite ist super. I love it. Aber auch die a seite kommt zum einsatz. gute platte.
Layo : Like A
Mike Shannon (Cynosure) : Excellent work on the Bside! Very familiar to something from the past but with an extra dimension added that puts this production above. This would be my favorite Leena to date.
Dave Ellesmere (Intacto/Remote) : Rubbo Swingo : Rodriguez Jr is going for headtrip with his super bendy modulating floor filler if this doesnt freak the dancefloor out .... The party is over...
DJ Gio MC-505 : Oh oh! The return of one half of The Youngsters! Simply incredible and interesting for my ears. The track for me is situated on bside and it's called "Soledad" where micro melodies follow rollin' rhythms and mystical approach. A new confirm for Leena Music.
Franck Roger (Realtone) : Playlist !
Dasding (Stephan Hinz) : I love Soledad. Wicked track. Will play and play and play and play…
Resident Advisor : 4.5/5 - Is Olivier Mateu all grown up? Leaving the Youngsters for a bit to strike out on his own once again, Mateu doesn't seem too concerned about silly, childish things any longer: his debut 12-inch for Anja Schneider's Leena imprint focuses instead on the adult and responsible craft of melodic minimal. Like the Youngsters' most recent work in this vein—such as 'The Third Knife', an ecstatic rip-off of Luciano & Quenum's 'Orange Mistake'—Mateu focuses in on the hook. Here, however, the ecstasy is more mature, the hook less overtly novel. Luxuriating in its melodic possibilities, the theme of 'Rubbo Swingo' may come at the expense of just about everything else, but you're unlikely to forget it either. Mateu forces it down your throat for the final five-and-a-half minutes of the track, tweaking the EQ throughout. Thankfully, it's engaging enough to work wonderfully, stopping time for the seven minutes it takes to fully unfold. On the B-side, 'Soledad' rides the same construct to the winner's circle with a long, DJ-friendly intro, a hook that doesn't quit, and pads to fill it out. Mateu gets busier here, though. Instead of dancing, you might find yourself struck dumb with admiration for the double helix of melody, which wraps around itself incessantly. Or you might dance anyway. (It might be hard to resist.) So, the Rubbo Swing EP: Mateu's bar mitzvah? An end to the naïve humor of his youngster days? Perhaps. But we all have to grow up sometime. And this 12-inch ain't a bad way to do it.
Jimpster (Freerange) : Rubbo Swingo is a killer! Love the twisted synth hook and deep held pad. This has got to have them going a bit loopy on the floor hasn't it? Nice crispy drum groove too.
Last.FM : Rubbo Swingo: it swings allright! the warm kick and bassline foundation have enough groove to move yer feet while the wonderful weirdness of the mid range while please the k cadets. Shuffling mini hats and white noise complete the top end ... is this guy a bricky by any chance? Excellent production that will please the most discerning djs and the ones that like to follow trends. Soledad: Awww... da tribal beat is back! watch it fly this summer on his mini guise with twisted synths and layers and layers of right down dirty low ends. Forget about strident electro-crap. It's all about the bottom end baby! ... and a little bit of melody.
Ludovic Rambaud : Deep & mental. Good EP.
M8 Magazine (UK): It's heads down time at the afterparty and this is exactly the kind of deep rolling groover that is going to keep it motoring along while still accessing the part of your brain yearning for a new level of wonkyness. The bass is a simple rolling pulse, but the top lines are a transmission from the dark side of the moon; rising analogue synth lines that don't quite fomr a melody, more a wash of sonic odness and a call to worship at the alter of wonkyness. Flip over for "Soledad" which takes a much more melodic route to the arrive in similar territory. This time gentle keys are employed in the fashion of some of Loco Dice's work to gentel envelop the listener in a bissfull aural coccon.
Markus Kafka (MTV) : Einer meiner derzeitigen lieblingstracks von einem meiner derzeitigen lieblingslabels. A1 hab ich am samstag gespielt, der laden stand kopf. tiptop !
Mike Monday (Om/Playtime): Played the A side twice at the weekend and I've put it on my latest mix - one of the best records I've had for pure unadulterated dancefloor joy in a while.
Sasse (Moodmusic): Quite good, will play and support !
Fukito: Soledad" has a very good vibe and I like this! In my playlist be sure. Deeply vinyl.
