Current mood:  blah

Last Friday was the final night of the Short Cuts Film Festival, and therefore the night they announce the winner of Best Film.

I sat in screen 1 of the EMPIRE Cinema, just pretty stoked to see 'Blokes' on a big screen, with 100 or so other competition finalists, actors, Directors, judges, festival organisers and sponsors. We watched all ten of the competition finalists and I can assure you the benchmark was set extremely high from the moment the first film hit the screen! Blokes was fifth up and looked great on the big screen, thanks to the talents of animator Mat Frodsham, who created the images in HD.

After the screening each of the ten finalist were called up to be presented with a framed certificate which reads, "The jury of the 2nd annual ShortCuts Film Festival recognise Blokes as a work of notable merit, and therefore worthy of induction into the ShortCuts Official selection for 2009"

I was pretty chuffed with my certificate and sat back down after the group photo. Then Darren Cliff, MD of
Cliff Productions and festival organiser took centre stage to announce the award. He listed three films that were vying for the top prize: Touched By A Stranger, Mr Thornton’s Change Of Heart and Blokes. He began to explain but then stopped in his tracks and announced, "the Winner of Best Film is Blokes!" Wow I was blown away!!!

Safe to say, the after show party is a bit of a blur! Four days later I'm still grinning from ear to ear!
