So we are back safe and in one piece from tour, you can check each of our individual pages for our own detailed run down on shows, funny things that happened, etc. A few highlights though that I'll mention here:
1) If you need a place to play in Ventura County, CA, talk to Rock City Studios, because they are absolutely rad, totally all-ages and will treat you really well.
2) If you get a chance to play Modesto, CA, DO IT, because those kids can fucking bring it.
3) Pumpkin patches are not to be trusted.
THANK YOUS: These are the people without whom this tour would never ever in a million years have happened:
- Erin from the Hot Toddies, who provided not only incredibly useful booking contacts and got us our Oakland show, but also, along with her lovely boyfriend Ryan and roomate Robin, welcomed us to Oakland with a kick ass barbecue, excellent company and a comfy place to sleep. She was truly the patron saint of the tour.
- Brian from Franklin For Short, who booked our shows in Camarillo and Ventura and also provided much needed places to sleep twice in three days and his winsome-as-always company.
- Christene from Tra La La / Sharp Ease for addtional incredibly helpful tour booking info and radio help.
- Bianca O'Blivion for setting up our KXLU appearance.
- Paul from History Invades for booking our Redding show
- Peter Podgursky, Crissa Draper and Garret Alavez for additional incredibly gracious hosting and comfy places to sleep and shower.
- Claude from Pop.Song.Romance Video Zine for setting up our Modesto show and Jupiter is Useless for totally and thouroughly rocking our asses off at said show.
- The Suburban Inn in Modesto, CA for giving us a magical remote control that allowed us to see a bizarre alternate universe where everyone mumbled and was badly lit and looked afraid and tired.
- The California State Highway Patrol, for neglecting to pull us over.
On that same note, this tour would also undoubtedly not have happened without the beyond the call of duty awesomeness of our own bass player, Larry S. Brady, who not only took care of all matters van rental-related, but also drove us about 2500 miles single-handedly, for all intents and purposes.
Larry's incredibly bad-assness on this tour only adds to the sadness with whihc we must announce that he will be leaving Shorthand For Epic following his final show with us on Saturday, October 13th, 2007 at the High Dive. The split is totally amicable and any music fan would do well to keep a close eye on whatever Larry does next. The show is also Stormi's birthday party and will feature Ms. Led and The Ruby Doe. After this show we will be taking an extended hiatus to re-group and figure out where to go from here as a band, so you'd best come out and see us now if you want to see us at all for a while. :-)
To close, here's a great video of us performing at the Mustang Club in Modesto, CA as shot by Claude from the pop.song.romance video zine:
As always, love you guys and see you soon.
XOXOXOXOXOXO
