Audio Angel Singer / MC / Songwriter
"2005 was one of the best years of my life and it's only July" - coming from one of San Francisco's most lauded vocalists, this is understandable. Audio Angel is on fire. After years of rocking underground clubs, she's now stepping up to stages like Irving Plaza in New York City and The Warfield in San Francisco. The one called Audio Angel is actually Rashida Clendening, a transplant from St. Petersburg, Florida who was destined to become one of the distinct voices of the San Francisco, US and worldwide dance community.
Since 1997, Audio Angel has been involved with several recording projects. She's an inspired songwriter who is extremely comfortable on the mic and a quick learner in the production studio. She co-wrote and co-produced the vocals for Gene Farris's "Disconnection Notice (Why?)" single in April 2003. In December 2002, she had the great opportunity to record and perform in Amsterdam. She's been performing the single "Feeling Good," most recently at Supperclub which originated in Amsterdam, but now has it's home in SF. 2005 marked the release of the Sound Tribe Sector 9 album "Artifact" (1320 Records) featuring Audio Angel's own "lovesong for families of all kinds" 'Better Day' and featured her dulcet tones on 4 other tracks. September 2005 marked the release of her smash collaboration with DJ Jo-S "Once Upon A Time", the junglist massive is giving it rave reviews.
If Audio Angel's voice sounds familiar, it may be from her many releases on the Drum & Bass front, or from her acting and voice work (television, movies, commercials, and even video games – listen for her voice cheering you along in Konami's "Dance Dance Revolution UltraMix" for XBOX and PC! And in 2006 watch for her big screen acting debut in the upcoming Will Smith film, "Pursuit of Happyness". Performing her live P.A.'s, Audio Angel is well known for her ability to layer her voice over music so well that audiences are frequently left wondering if her vocals are actually elements of the tracks being played. She frequently sings live with her new band, nate leslie and you can often catch her with Sound Tribe Sector 9, who are critically acclaimed for the beauty and intricacy of their live music.
