do you cramp in the box?
pulling all the world in on top of you?
detritus chokes and fertilises nothing
we can smell the stink of rot
and all your speech is epitaph drenched
your conversations tend towards entropy

i am tired and seeking an upwards push
i have touched the swimming pool floor
observed the drowning anchors
bid farewell to the floundering survivors
i cast off the victim status and swam
and you think to bury a hook in my mouth?

some hunters are unthinking
they are the machineries of a hunger
with little analysis brought to bear
and sometimes you only seem half there
operating out of your gloom
like a miner digging out of a cave in
all of it can die under the crazy paving

i want to walk away from the decision you have made
and i may only return when it's played out
and you are somewhat freer
because year after year is a persistent decline
and i never wanted to live in a shrine
to forgive is to err, to live is divine
