As promised every month we are putting a new song up on myspace....here is the world premier of Stereo Pirates!
We recorded and wrote soooo much with Super Buddha and this song we wrote on my birthday. Barb of SB is the biggest believer in affirmations done street style and she suggested I write the lyrics like that...she was like say what you want like you already got it bitch!
I said, who you callin a bitch..u.n.i.t.y!!!! (queen latifah b4 she got normal)
And then I did what Barb told me to do cuz I always do what Barb tells me to do.
We performed the song live alot and we added a new bridge then of course Dee got a hold of it all alone holed up in his studio. The thing about Dee...you don't know if he is stone cold sober or smokin a doobie or whut but he comes back with hey guys I added this keyboard or I effected your voice so you sound like a robot machine or I got these horn players I know...and you hear what he's done all on his own in the studio and you say whuuuuuuttttt that is delish!
Then of course Mark Plati mixed it with Hopey, Doug and Dee. I was having a bitch fit that day and was of no help in the studio. I retired to an outdoor cafe and drank margaritas while my fave genius Doug gave me a life lesson or two.
We had alot of fun working on this song and giving it legs...Hopey and I tried about a million vocal parts until we found just what we wanted to do on the chorus. I literally rewrote the last verse standing in the vocal booth in front of the microphone. Doug added this wierd polka sounding guitar that makes me feel like summertime and madonna. Gil crushed us with the bridge and the bridge lyrics just came from purely following the emotion he played on his bass.
God we have fun writing together!
Anyhooshal I write this to you from my hippie den...walls covered in tapestrys from around the world, feathers, crystals, roses, candles american spirits, red wine, tofu n greens and of course with a one eyed pug sitting right beside me. I'm wearing the mickey mouse sweatshirt I wore the day I jumped out of an airplane.....jumping out of airplanes is a really good thing to do everyday literally and metaphorically.
I hope you blast this song in your ipod and your car. Miss Guy has already been spinning it around the globe....big ups Miss Guy! He says it sounds like if the Clash and Blondie wrote a song together.
This is my personal fave to perform live and we laughed our skinny asses off recording the vocals...getting BITCH PLEASE  to sound just right! "no hopey more pier queen, no galadriel more ghetto!" hahahahahahha!
