"Dove of the Desert Video" completed, slated to appear on the next CD "Across the Seas Of Id, The Way To Eden"
John Paul Marchand, BSE percussionist and also mixed-media artist freak, has completed a video for the classic Black Sun song "Dove of the Desert".
"It is a real honor to have worked on this project, to have played on it, the video, and also to have done most of the photography and art for the next album. I tried to include a lot of Jesus Acedo imagery from his own ethereal cannon, like peacock feathers, a bust of his beloved Sun God Apollo, Lilith, and other Black Sun images from songs gone by!
I remember hearing the first debut album ("The Black Sun Ensemble" from 1985) at a record store called "It's Only Rock 'N Roll" in NYC back in the late eighties, and I was an instant fan. The guy working there had it blaring at really high volume, at 11 at least.
I then bought (from 1989) "Lambent Flame" and that one still remains one of my favorite records of all time.
I listened to the entire debut record at the store, trying to figure out when (and where) the hell this record could of been made, because it sounded so timeless and NOTHING like what the decade was putting out then. The music was so unique, raga rock unlike anything else I had ever heard, i was blown away!
I bought the album without a seconds thought!
So to have had the honor to play with Jesus and the guys for these past few years, AND NOW to do this video for "Dove," (which to me is THE BSE tune) for the forthcoming album, was just an amazing creative treat. I am very thankful to the rest of the band for letting me have a go on all this. It is really a dream kind of endeavor! I also feel that the old fans will really love this next record, it really harks back to that sound of the first album, but not in a nostalgic kind of way at all. It has it's own feel, but it is Black Sun doing what the band does best. Well, you will just have to hear it!"
-John Paul Marchand
The video John Paul has produced will be on the next cd, "Across the Seas of Id: The Way To Eden" which will be released on Camera Obscura Records world wide later this year.
The recording of the song was from a 2003 live performance on the "Locals Only" radio program on 91.3 KXCI fm in Tucson. It is a great rendition of the song.
So be sure to purchase the album when it is released and to check out the great new music, and of course the video, kids!
We will let you know when all that is going to go down!
