"Point-of-View"
by: Andrea Emmett

Everyone has their own point-of-view on everything. The way you feel about something all depends on the way you think of it in your mind. Sometimes your point-of-view can change the outcome of any situation. When you already have a perceived outcome of a situation, in most cases it turns out totally different than what you expected. When you think of a situation negatively or don't have a good outcome in your mind, then that will ultimately make you feel negative, nervous or worried in some cases.
For example, this summer, after my last year in middle school, I started getting really worried about entering high school. I just thought it would be a place full of gossip, drama, and disapproval crowded with all the social cliques you could think of with no chance of fitting in. I was so nervous and worried about what people would think of me; just a little freshman in a huge school with no clue at all. After a whole summer of all that worrying, I finally realized that I had nothing to be worried about. I know plenty of people that made it through high school alive (and all of them had a pretty good time there too).
After I went to a few orientations at my high school, I saw that I wasn't the only scared freshman. By seeing this I felt relief; the reassurance that I wasn't alone. I was finally free of all that anxiety that made me scared about high school. I also had a new point-of-view. Instead of looking at high school as a place that I wouldn't fit in, I thought about it as a place that would be full of people who would be in the same position as me – first-timers who would soon be used to it. Also, I thought of it as a great ministering opportunity; a place where I could show the light of God by my actions and hopefully help show them the way to the Lord.
See, it all depends on the way you look at things. Now, since I think of high school in a positive way, I know there will be a positive outcome. And this just doesn't apply to going into high school. You can apply this to any part of your life, whether it is a family situation, your relationships, a job, or anything else you can think of. Just remember whenever you're nervous or a little worried about something to turn it into something positive and look at all the good things about it. It all depends on your point-of-view.
