the link posted here broke.

I doubt humans will ever be replaced by machines.

there are many reasons. one of them being that humans are way cheaper than machines that do what humans can do, and another being that the computer scientists I know could never bring themselves to create a machine that involves such an astonishingly high level of redundancy and 'useless' processes.

When do humans become obsolete?  I would find a mechanized presence creepy.

humans become obsolete when computers can transcend a Turing Machine. Artificial intelligence hasn't made it very far because of that... Either that, or when the Ubermensch evolves and we get domesticated.
